Hot Rods Anyone have a Hamb friendly daily driver wagon?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Jun 24, 2020.

  1. Brenda and I are kicking around the idea of looking for a wagon as a additional around town driver and part time delivery vehicle, nothing written in stone but Brenda seems to be tired of mini vans for delivering and she doesn't want to use her Ranch Wagon as a daily driver but does use it occasional when delivery's pile up.

So, are any of you guys using a age appropriate wagon on a daily basis? HRP

I drive my ‘54 Country Squire most of the summer.
I’m sure it was a daily driver in ‘54 so why not today?

It makes no sense to me that there are no modern wagons in North America, to me the wagon is the greatest useful body style possible.

  6. Believe it or not, I had a Dodge A100 short window van back in the early 70's, it was a automatic and I shoehorned a 340 between the seats, it would smoke tire for a block but the brakes were marginal, I would love to find one in decent shape that was affordable. HRP

I think it's a great idea, in fact I'm looking for a '59 -'62 Stude wagon right now...gonna' run a SBC with a 700R4, add disc brakes, sway bars, hang a Vintage Air unit on it, add some Salt Flats and call it good!

As posted in another post -
Will be...my daily driver with the addition of an exhaust and electrical system.
259 Stude engine, ported heads, Chrysler intake manifold, Holley carburetor, custom adjustable cam drive, with 4spd. auto trans., disc brakes, narrowed, 3.70 ratio rear axle, Commander dash. The "cowl" hood is made up from the stock hood, and a 55 Stude hood center area, turned around backward, and welded. I layed three rows of weld, hopefully, it won't require ANY bondo..!
Oh yea, the hood prop rod is titanium...

So, what would be the difference between a daily driver HAMB era wagon and a daily driver HAMB era coupe, pickup, or sedan? Its simply another form of an old vehicle. The same stuff would be required to make a wagon a daily driver as it would either of the other choices.

Or are you just wanting to see more pictures? Gene

    This is interesting.
While there are some nice cars posted...I'd bet that a "bunch" of'em are NOT..."daily drivers".
They may get driven to shows and occasionally to get lunch somewhere, but as the definition of the word "daily"...I seriously doubt it.

  25. Exactly, Although our Ranch Wagon was purchased new by Brenda's grandmother and was her daily driver and also a delivery vehicle for her flower shop it is now a car for our enjoyment, it could be used on a daily basis, but the wear and tear especially by Brenda's employees ain't gonna cut it. 29. My dad had a '61 Chevy wagon when I was a teenager, He let me use the car to haul our bands guitars, amps, drums and PA system.

We had loaded up the wagon Thursday night for the road trip Friday after school, unfortunately as I topped a blind curve a propane truck was broke down in the middle of the road and I plowed into it.

Needless to say the wagon was totaled, Brenda was taken to a dental surgeon after hitting the dash and I went to the hospital.

Dad replaced the wagon with a brand new 68 Chevy wagon and always said it was not as nice as his old one. HRP
