Hot Rods Someone Ended up with a Nice Stash of '35-'36 Fords!

I found this, didn't take long. 35K

SOLD! Ten 1935-36 Ford 5 window coupe projects. 6 are rollers, of those 5 have titles, and 4 partial shells/carcasses. These come with a very large amount of parts including decklids, garnish mouldings, doors, grilles, fenders, gas tanks, etc. But no motors or transmissions.

This is part of a very large estate of a friend of mine that I am helping to organize, and the executor is not interested in separating them, or selling individual parts.

Located in southern Oregon.

Wasn’t there a thread on here about this collection at one time? Somebody was working with the executor to inventory it for sale.

Don Babb was one of the early sheet metal repop guys. I recall a Street Rodder magazine article (mid-late 70's?) of his Classic Manufacturing, stamping out Model A body components including roadster quarters. I seem to recall he did some bit part acting in Hollywood in is earlier years. He was in Palmdale, CA. for years before moving to OR.

Found this article on his stash. As a die hard 33/34 Ford freak, i get weak in the knees seeing a couple dozen pairs of roadster quarters and several bodies being assembled! Assume they're SAR or was he stamping them?

A little strange,all those cars and NO engines or transmissions.
I wonder how many were going to “get built” over the years and now we see another collection sold off after the owner passes.I really think there’s guys that just enjoy collecting with no intention of ever doing anything with them.JMO

 

I hope this is "whats left" and that Don Babbs had many running driving cars to enjoy.

I bought parts from Don Babb at the Portland Swap Meet and was under the impression that he was stamping 34 Ford body parts.

 

It may have been make what sells good, collect what you love. There might be a lot of 35/36 Fords getting built in the next year or so though.

 

All are 5 windows. Good parts cars for 3 windows, roadsters and convertibles and 4-dr convertibles. LOL.

 

There was a stash somewhere in the Medford, Grants Pass area discussed here several years back. A poster had video of a walk through and was trying to represent the owner and do a sale for him. I don't think it was this one.

 

I sure could use one, just one of those grilles........

If I remember correctly, he was stamping 33-34 roadster parts long before Steve’s did. I also seem to remember hearing that Steve’s acquired or had tried to acquire Don’s dies before pursuing his roadster project.
