Greetings all, I'm from the Tacoma area and currently working on a 1963 Falcon 2dr. Post. Needs a lot of front end work. Nothing fancy, stand car with straight six. I've restored several cars, but never a Falcon. I'd be interested to know what other year Falcon parts can be used. Thanks, Phipplet
I have a 63 Sprint. I notice that many 63-60 parts are interchangeable. Not all but plenty. For instance, I needed a pedal assembly and got a 1960 manual and it fit perfect. $200 less than the authentic sprint assembly on eBay and it was the same exact part...I recommend buying a repo Ford maintenance manual and get a Macs Falcon catalog for free and study both. You will start to see what parts are interchangeable. Big changes happened after 63 for the Falcons. Also, for parts check out eBay and sellers like “ fordcloseoutdeals” collierswharehouse” great parts and much less than Macs. Feel free to PM if you have any questions. Post more pics of your new bird, they are great cars! Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Next I need to figure out what engine I have. The PO moved the 3 speed from the column to the floor for some reason.
From appearance, it looks like a 170. A fine engine for cruising. The best upgrades are a better carburetor, and distributor, but you need to work on the dimple in the nose, first.
1962 or 1963, any variant, 2-door, 4-door, Ranchero, wagon, is an eligible donor for the front end parts. You have some cutting and welding ahead of you. Can you post a photo of the underside of the front of the body, where the lower control arm strut rods attach.
Lots of parts interchange with the Comets of that era. They are basically the same car but a little longer in wheelbase. Sent from my SM-T350 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
After sitting for several years, I put some new fuel in the fuel pump and it fired right up! I was amazed! https://photos.app.goo.gl/fNZYMpKbrmqcqcFe8
That's not too bad. I have fixed far worse. It looks like just the bottom of the radiator support is the only non-bolt-on part that will need to be replaced.
It's pretty bad. It's bent all the way back to the driver's side floor board, which is buckled. The shock tower is up against the steering box. The subframe under the floor board snapped off all the spot welds. The driver's side engine mount snapped off.
Upon further inspection, the '63 Falcon would require a frame straightener. Therefore I got rid of it. However, I located a '62 sitting in a field for the past several years. It was an old drag car from the 1980's! Time slips are still in the glove box. This should be a fun project
Looks like a great car to have fun with! Planning to drag race it? What engine, trans is in it? Looks solid! Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
It has a built 302 w/ 351 heads, radical solid cam, 11:1 compression, T-10 4speed, mini-spooler rear end. It had a built FMX, but I wanted a stick. I ordered an entirely new front suspension for it. I'm starting at the front and working my way back!
I was told the cam was a Crane Commander or Fireball from the 80's. I haven't been able to locate any specs.
Tore the engine apart and inspected it. Cleaned up the engine compartment for paint. Had to do some cutting / welding to make room for headers. Got the grill, headlight covers and tail lights powder coated. Next thing is to get my Global West front suspesion assembled! ATTACH=full]4899419[/ATTACH]
