Yes I heard on the news that that the Iowa State Fair has been canceled. That is at the fair grounds in Des Moines the first week of August, so I don’t see any chance of Goodguys having their show in Des Moines 4th of July weekend this year. We were going to go to a show in Hastings, NE this Saturday I called a couple of weeks ago and the show was still go, now it has been canceled.
The GG's 2020 event scheduled was revised again this morning ... and of course, is subject to change again ... but here's the latest:
If any one is going from within about 200 miles of Wichita Falls, I may be able to help with a little gas money. I bought a radiator from a guy just north of Sioux City. MAY be able to get it to Des Moines. Ben
Haven't seen anything about limiting number if entrants for Des Moines. Anyone heard any updates on that? It's not mentioned anywhere on their pages that I can see. Planning to be there next weekend. Also wondering about a HAMB meet and greet again? Thanks SPark
Online registration is still open. I would think if you are registered you will get in. I wouldn't want to stand in a crowded registration tent hoping to to get in without exposure to any virus. Phil
Bringing this up again. Anyone from Sioux City area coming this way? Any help appreciated. Thanks Ben
I will be in Des Moines on Friday and Dubuque on Saturday for Vintage Torque Fest. Anyone else planning on going to both?
Verno,I wish I could do both...doing only Torque Fest. Swap on Saturday and Show on Sunday. But I DO like your plan better.
I really like the kkoa Salina show ,went to 5 of them but the large crowds with this virus makes me nervous. I think attendance will be down anyway. there is next year hopefully.
Some of the "H.A.M.B.-friendly" / "Semi-H.A.M.B.-friendly" cars on the fairgrounds on Friday, July 3rd:
Four of us went yesterday and thought the turn out was pretty good, all things considered. Well worth our time and we enjoyed it all. Understandably, vendors were fewer than usual, but the major players were there and I bought some significant parts for my current ‘37 Chevy build. Thanks to all who who showed up with their cars! Ray
I went to Des Moines on Friday with my '55. I thought attendance was great, both people and cars. Talked to some friends, made some new. All in all, a great day. This morning, I went to Vintage Torque Fest and sold in the swap meet area. Car count and people count was down compared to years past. Again, talked to many friends, made some new. All in all, another great day. Best part was hanging with @bobwop I am now fried to a shiny-red crisp. Happy 4th All!!!!!
I’m glad they had the show. A buddy of mine left on Wednesday, they stay with friends in Des Moines and won’t be back until Sunday afternoon.
