Final paint and assembly on the front end, Even tho one has taking apart a thousand times... seems like final assembly takes forever !

Made a patch for the frame. Got the old trans out. Turns out it's a 400 turbo and sealed the frame with POR 15 next is welding in the new pans.

 

Met a buddy of mine of 55 years for a quick scoot in the cool morning air....

 

Sanded old cracked paint off interior window trim of 40 Plymouth. Forgot that I was out of paint.

 

Worked on a punch press die set that will make lifter keys for 404's.

June 8th 2020 Windshield wiper replacement arrived from Chevys of the Forties in a round about way. I couldn't change the shipping address unless I signed up for a data mining "membership" and I declined so I had to pick it up at a UPS drop off point. The wiper motor is considerably more compact in depth and will fit nicely behind the valance.

I fiddled around with the angled shaft spacers of the old wiper, which I wanted to use, until I broke the outer one and abandoned that idea. It was pot metal and, while securing it to drill it out larger, I turned one piece of pot metal into three.

Then I installed the wiper motor with the jam nuts that came with the kit and everything was fine. Ran the wires down thru the A-piller and put the wiring diagram with the other dashboard items for completion later down the road. Beer of the day was East Sixth Brewing's 6 IPA India Pale Ale.

 

I dig the music, very cool. But >15 minutes of it gets tiring. Would've been good to change it up half way through maybe. Do you mind saying who it is? Thanks!

 

Remember when we used to go to cruise-in's, with other cars, and we looked at cars and talked car stuff and made new friends? Yep, that's what I did. Got the ol' pickemup truck out sportin' it's new fancy shiny paint.

Actually it was Sunday, took the roadster for a ride on a picture perfect day!

 

Been in bed all day lol. Feel more like a cabinet builder than a bodyman for some reason

 

Well I got a little done on my mercury......moved the body onto the restored frame with help from my little helper.

 

Cut a couple windshields for a 42 Ply. Sanded them & the vents I had already cut & called it a day.

 

That's gonna be a sweet truck.

 

Thanks man Hoping to send it home the end of next week! Gotta spray the steps for the bed and the door panels. Then finish putting it together need to con somebody into coming help me sit the bed back on it tmrw

Cut the paint yesterday, began buffing today. Geez I’m slow. Pic 1 is a close up of part of pic 2.

 

Man, that paint is slick! I was sure that the first pic was a shot of the sky. In fact I had to double check twice to realise it was in fact a reflection. Awesome, just awesome

Body on rotisserie and frame reassembly after it came back from powder coater

 

I was not impressed with the scrub line, which the original builder thought was a good solution.

 

So I made som new parts..to be continued.

 

Almostdone, Awesome work, and paint. really amazing what some can do with paint.
