I don't understand why when you blow the horn, the turn signals come on!

Just want to give a shout out to Dave (irant) for a transaction I just did with him a(book about '40s) and to Duffy at Mr. 40s Fat Stuff for a transaction too. Both guys were super to deal with. I bought premolded hoses from Duffy as I am putting a new Walker radiator in the '40. The old hoses, one was universal rippled one and the lower was two u-bends and a piece of metal tubing. As long as I was replacing the radiator, new hoses and fan belt were in order. Service is a commodity that is hard to find today, along with trust and quality. So well worth celebrating when you are on the receiving end of it.

All the bells and whistles, back in the day

  4. It's funny how things work. No doubt the owner added all those ding dongs (accessories) because he genuinely thought they made the car look better. On the other hand, I look at it and think "There's a nice car under all that crap."

  6. .......Down South (USA) all of those added accessories were quite the big deal. I remember seeing a lot of that back in East Tennessee in the late 50's. I'm a bit more of a minimalist myself.:) 2013-10-22 13.06.45.jpg

Found this picture and it made me think of my misspent teen years in the small town of Rhinebeck, NY (Class of 1960). We used to drag race on the road between Rhinebeck and Rhinecliff which was on the Hudson River. Little traffic in the late 50s and a good long straight away. Being kids, we had to "warm up our tires" like we saw when we visited Dover Dragstrip in Wingdale, NY and then line up to race. The fly in the ointment was an older lady who went to church with my mother and because there were few hot rods in town, my car was a "known" menace. I would not have finished the race and she would be on the phone saying "Vera, your son is down here racing again". I would catch hell when I got home from my mom and my dad would just roll his eyes.
