I recently did a rattlecan paintjob on my traditional 29 roadster. I kept it white but a thad more vanilla/off white...and some subtle black with red scallops as a nod to early sprint cars and air racers of the 30s...kind of.
The goal was all together, with the aprons, the slanted windshield, the wheel/tire size and the scallops, to get the illusion of speed on an otherwise pretty square and boxy 29 body. And it came with an 4" drop all around when I bought it.
Also, it is not a coincidence that the point of the scallop ends in level (ish) with the "beltline" :D
....and off course... I had Gus Maanum in the back of my head.

That's great...and the nice part is that you don't have to worry about ruining an expensive paint job....drive it carefree. How many cans did it take?

  7. Great job. Road going Bee Gee racer. A very tasteful nod to speed from the past.

Cool roadster, I like the wheel/tire combo and the scallop layout is really nicely done. Cheapo paintjobs are always fun and yours turned out great!

Saw it elsewhere online last night and absolutely love it.

the shortened, pushed back, and over all repositioned splash aprons look great

Nice job. A bonus is not worrying about scratching a megabuck paint job.

Looks good. Fits the car........I'm thinking though that it would be more work than a regular spray of cheap white tractor paint.

  14. Turned out great! Did you pinstripe it? Getting ready to paint my T soon, not sure if I would use rattle cans... I have the equipment and paint to spray it, and don't want to chance spray bombs in case it doesn't turn out as nice as yours did.

More across the Pond Cool...looks fantastic @hotrodmano...I actually recall a Vintage Roadster at a track bearing a striking resemblance to your Hotrod...I hope you are free to social distance from gas station to gas station and all the winding roads in between...

Excactly. I want a car that I can put my beer on the hood at old style meetings without worrying about scratches and/or "other drunk people" :D
Im not really sure . I trew them in my garbage trailer once empty but I think 6 or 7 cans or something plus 1 can of primer for exposed metal and some slight bondo work..

It was some cheap single component acrylic touch up paint spray from a low cost store here in Norway but its actually good quality paint. Yes flat fan nozzle and cans where roomtemperature but car and garage was a bit cooler..like around 50 farenheit or something. Made the paint get time to even out better before drying.

No pinstriping. I sprayed the white first, then masked of the scallop shape and backwards so all the white was covered. Then I sprayed a mist of red along the scallop curve and used a curve masking tape to mask of the thin red line...and then black. Some misses here and there with the thickness of the red line but overall it looks good from 3 yards:D

The latest Rustoleum version fits all cans, I like it! Makes me feel like a "real" painter.
