@stanlow69 I recall hearing the the car was from north Omaha. It's in the background of a few of my pics from '84. As you can see, in '84 it had what appears to be a '59 Imperial grill bar. Jim, your picture above must have been from a different year. I only went in '84 whereas you went to most of the midwest area KKOA events, so probably easy for you to miss a year or two when the events were held at repeated locations.

I actually have that license plate in my collection of stuff. Boring "plain label" Nebraska "KUSTOM". After the Mel Alexander Swap meet got moved out of AkSarBen, it went to an open grass field in Manley NE for one year, maybe two. Found the plate there for a few bucks. 01162017_0012.jpg

  6. The in progress Ford might have made it to the Spectacular a few different years. I know the owner was interviewed by Denise on the 1986 video. In Jim's picture it looks like more work was done to the front of the car than in the '86 video, so who knows the real timeline? I wonder if the car was ever finished..........E

I know it was taken at the Iowa state fairgrounds, so maybe at the Last Pass show a later year. Thought it was from Nebraska. Did he have a Ranchero later on with a Edsel front end. Same condition as the Crown I posted. In progress. The pic I posted, the headlights are canted more and only has one headlight. He was kind of scruffy looking, not to be rude.

Here`s a Donn Loew built car. Right? Did I get the spelling right? IMG_20200527_0003.jpg

I think it is spelled Lowe. Perfect name for a builder of kustom cars. And this particular car is one of my favorites. I'll never forget about twisting my head off my shoulders as I saw this car back in the 80's. I was driving south on 72nd street just before crossing I-80 and saw this in the parking lot at a hotel on the west side of 72nd. Waaaay before all the distractions we have nowadays with cell phones and whatnot. But I can tell you I was driving south and looking west. Thankfully no one stopped in front of me. Beautiful car. Where is it now?

That`s(72nd st) in Omaha Nebraska ^^^^ for those of you who don`t know. Donn was from Colorado. More pic`s to come from the 84 show.

  11. It's overseas in Europe. I could be wrong but I think it's in Sweden. E

A couple shoebox`s. Similar grilles. Had to change that wording 3 times. Tough crowd here. In the next batch of pic`s you can see they parked next to each other. While you are at it, open your gas filler door too. IMG_20200528_0001.jpg

I have one of those KKOA bumper stickers. This is the only one I've ever seen on a bumper.

  15. I have one too. I think they are fairly rare these days. The one on the bumper of the shoebox that Jim posted is only the second one I've ever seen on a car, and like Bill mentioned, the only one on a bumper.
The other one I saw was on the rear window of Dave Losen's '55 Ford "Sugar Daddy". Early on the 1985 Leadsled Spectacular video, you can see it on the window when Dave rolled into Jon Gullet's place before they headed out to another custom guy's house where a nice group of sleds had gathered.
I looked at the pictures I've collected of Dave's car but there were no shots that showed the sticker, and a still picture of the frozen video was too blurry to see the sticker at all. E

Saw a few on cars as they headed out after the show ended. Weren`t they handed out as you entered your car. Post a pic, Bill. Here`s Scott Moline`s ? Vicky from the LLK club. The second pic is from the Springfield Missouri`s KKOA show. IMG_20200531_0001.jpg

  25. Just as a side note, I have every issue of KKOA Leadsleder newspaper and magazine from #1 to date. I am lifetime member #12, and want to give the magazines to someone who wants them. Message me if your interested.

  26. That's a neat picture of the sticker Bill (@54delray)! I'm sure there aren't many of them left.
Also, great pictures Mark (@Moriarity)! Neat to see so much early KKOA memorabilia as that stuff has become really rare. I've hung on to all the KKOA goodies that I've received at the KKOA shows I've been to, but since I've only gone to shows since 2000, the stuff I have isn't real old.
I have managed to get some older pieces at swap meets, Ebay or where ever, but that collection is small. I'm always on the lookout for KKOA stuff.
Now I'm in no way a super collector of car stuff like Mark or many other guys here on the HAMB, but like most car guys I've managed to gather a few things over the years. Here is my KKOA collection minus my newer dash plaques as they are out in the garage.

There are some odd things in my collection. The little red plastic thing below the lake pipe caps is a clip for holding taco or potato chips bags closed. We use this here at home everyday. The purple thing in the clear KKOA bag is a cloth for cleaning your eyeglasses or sunglasses. I'm sure there are a lot of little doodads that KKOA has given away that I don't have. Every year at the show, me and the guys that share our shade canopy always compare things in each other's goodie bags and sometimes the contents vary quite a bit.
How about you guys? What KKOA giveaways or advertisements have you hung on to? E

  27. Almost forgot. Here's an old picture I took in the garage a few years ago. If you look close, you can see my pair of KKOA drag plaques. The painted one was a swap meet find years ago. Got it for $2.00! Ah, the good old days!
The unpainted one I received from the KKOA directly as I was the first to correctly answer a trivia question on their old website ages ago. It took quite sometime to show up at my door, but I was tickled pink to get it! E

  28. Sorry guys, one last thing. Hey Mark, you would appreciate this. If you look closely in the picture I just posted, you can see a Bic lighter between the chrome letter "E" and the Jack -In-Box clown antenna topper. The Bic lighter my lovely better half gave me as a Christmas gift many years ago. The picture on it is a '59 Impala that looks just like Schliker's (sic?), with the background similar to the cover of Rod & Custom his car was on way back when. Don't know if you've ever seen one before. Just thought I'd share..........E

The 1st shot of Scott's '51 is parked next to George West's Front wheel drive Diesel Merc, & the 2nd one is next to Howard "Bob" Keith's Chopped Candy Red '39 Ford Coupe. Those were really fun days!
