Should actually be positraction, I would think. Probably just a messed-up abbreviation for the window sticker

As you probably already are aware this Corvette was purchased by Don Steves Chevrolet to be raced by Dave Macdonald, it is the OO Corvette that you posted in a previous photo. This is the last Corvette that Dave drove before moving over to Shelby Cobras. This Corvette was picked up at the plant in St Louis and driven cross country by Dave and his wife Sherry sharing driving duties. Also piked up were other Z06 Corvettes for Bob Bondurant and Mickey Thompson.

Not a custom Corvette but it is a one of one. Its the rear engined concept C1 Corvette. It is actually titled as a Corvair, I assume because its based on the Corvair platform. This is the real deal Prototype/ concept car from GM. I took this photo at the 2020 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. To be more accurate, this photo was taken in one of the parking lots where the cars are unloaded and final prep before going to park on the golf course. 199B55A4-3CA5-4E1F-BDE7-6722E55CDF11_1_105_c.jpeg

No, it is not Corvair based. This came well before the Corvair as we know it was conceived and is basically a factory customized Corvette. If you back up a couple of pages you will find several photos including a couple that show that from the windshield forward is is basically a stock C1.

I think they built 2 or maybe 3 for the show circuit. Not 1 of 1. If one or three, none exist today as they were destroyed by Chevrolet back in the day. Rear engined, nope. Real deal Prototype.concept car from GM. Nope. The car you cite is a owned by Ken Lingenfelter. At the 2020 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance it received the The Judge John North Trophy FOR THE BEST NEW COACHWORK OR RE-CREATION 1954 Chevrolet Corvair Ken Lingenfelter - The Lingenfelter Collection - Brighton, MI. The car is a replica.

I had a felling someone posted one of these before on this thread. Below is one of my shots of it from the front. It fooled me at first thinking it was a normal C1, that is until it passed us. And thank you for the corrections. 4F415EEC-01EE-4426-9A38-37172165FD96_1_105_c.jpeg

If you search for photos from back in the day of the actual '54 Corvette/Corvair I think you'll find there is quite a difference in windshield heights between the recreation and the dream/styling exercise cars.

Pat the 61 Vette (Cole & Cole) was out of Perkasic Pa so it may have run at Dover I suppose. The car was competitive in 66 (maybe other years as well) and was driven by Gerry Robinson if that means anything to you.

This great looking 62 is owned by Jeff out of Missouri but if I had his contact information I lost it. I believe Jeff may lurk here and if you do Jeff send me a private message. If anyone has his contact info please let me know. I hope to run into him at Byron this July but want to finish this book as soon as I can (before July for sure). I want to clear my desk once and for all.

I am trying to put together an epilogue to my book project and want to wrap it up with some of the solid axle Corvettes that are still racing albeit even if it is just an occasional vintage race. I already have a number of cars in mind including John (bald 1 on the HAMB) but would love to include Jeff's 62 and his 60. If any other cars come to mind make sure you guys remind me. Of course I will include Bob Cook and the three SEGA cars, so those I don't need reminding. meltdown 14 092.jpg

Thanks Jim, the car does look familiar so I probably saw it somewhere, the track is reminiscent of a few in the east that I have been to especially Dover.
