Yes Thankyou. I’m well aware of the Fitzpatrick coupe. I discovered it when researching for my 39 Cadillac build. There’s some beautiful elements and some... I’m not so keen on, like the Lincoln grille. But it is a time capsule of the early post war era customs. Imagine it with a sectioned 41 Packard grille though.
Agreed @CadMad , less is more for most of the era-specific design cues you're applying. My posting history here references how nearly nothing can be done to improve Packard models of many years, pre or postwar. There's a few rare exceptions. The Mulholland Speedster comes to mind even though I'm not keen on the electric top. Also, from the talented Oz out west, "Gable" for John D'Agostino as seen here, although I'm not too keen on the bagged stance: I've said before, I think this is what Darrin "thought" he was offering, yet the very same Gable said of Darrin's early efforts before Hess & Eisenhart, "...looks better the further you get away from it." Ouch. I'd bet a good cup of coffee he'd never say it of this one, or in fact where yours is headed. Cheers...
It’sa huge psychological boost to get the trunk locking, aligned and operational. .... and it looks pretty good as well. Made up the other side sail panel yesterday and suddenly it becomes a form not just a collection of bits.
Remote trunk release is mounted and working. “Click”. The back is nearly all welded up and tight as a drum. Gaps are good, flow is nice. My mate will fold up new 5mm chassis side rails today. Next move will be to decide to either lift tub off and do chassis mods.... or carry on to the doors. Exciting either way.

Damn, had I known Brian!!! You could have bought me lunch. Yes, it’s true, not once ....but twice. I was taking pics and said to my mate “ “I’m amazed you can walk up to a $6 million car. I had just finished taking a video of it and round the corner comes this guy on one of these 4 wheel electric scooters...... Bang!!! He cursed and swore, put it in reverse, and then bolted forward again. BANG!!! He took off quick but we alerted staff who converged on it. Sill was bent in but the body team came out and pulled it into shape. I was shaking the rest of the day.
It’s Saturday and I spent the morning at the shed until I got the 15 texts from my girlfriend saying she feels neglected. I got home at lunch and she was sleeping. So I texted X38 for some relationship/shed time advice. It wasn’t productive. So I went back to the shed and cut in the $50 fuel tank I found on Marketplace this morning. Perfect fit!!! The texts have just started again.... it could go good it could go bad..... it could mean heaps more shed time.

I’m an idiot. I never throw anything out. Ask X38 . I hoard “useful” things. Sometimes to my detriment. Anyhow I brought the rh front hinge mech off the Saab roof home to try and work out how to reconfigure it to suit the shorter cut back top. I put it on the coffee table for a week and looked at it for hours trying to work a solution which didn’t come. Then my girlfriend said to move it cos she was sick of car parts on the coffee table …. so I put it ona living room chair for another week …till I was again told to move it. I looked at it and thought I need a new direction and closure and this won’t work. So 3 weeks ago I walked to the bin and felt good to cleanse my soul of this “trash”. A new “organised” me. Saturday night whist my relationship hung in the balance I was at the shed and had the Eureka moment. In a15 minute creative frenzy I cut and shut the remaining hinge on the other side ….. and it all folds away like factory. Damn it . Now I have to find a rh Saab folding top front hinge.
...and so the story goes, and let it be told throughout the ages, that is what happens when you bring car parts into the home.

I don't know what's happening this summer, all events are cancelled through June, can't forecast what'll happen later, but we're hoping the Relix Riot will be able to be held in August.

The 39 Cad is safely stored across the road. My plan is to get both up to the same stage and then move forward on both together. I’m in a good industrial area now and a few of the young mechanics beside me are keen to get the Packard 8 pulled down and rebuilt shortly. I’d love to supercharge it. For the moment I’ll just focus on the pantograph doors which will define this build I think.
Haha.....I kept my Pontiac engine behind my chair in the TV room for several months and my wife never did see it! Had a small blanket over it for some of the time....
That’s impressive Rocky. How’s single life going for you now? My relationship is sorted now that I’ve learned my lesson. If you have a fuel filler in the trunk it’s got to be isolated by a door and a walk ( transport regulations) so I put some more Stainless kitchen splash back to good use. Then I decided it was rolled sills time.
