Technical Weld, glue, screw, or other on your hot rod floor panels?

I’m ‘almost done’ with my ‘31 Model A coupe body. I have reprod ( absolute sheet metal) floor panels in front, under, and behind the seat. My question is how to best connect these panels to the car. I was going to simply stitch weld them to the sub frame, but now I’m thinking it might be nice to be able to remove them in the future.

They fit well. I will use seam sealer at a minimum.

    Thoughts or suggestions?

If you want them to be removable then all you can do is screw, bolt or use Dzus fasteners . You could Velcro them in but I don’t think you would want that.:D

I used similar ones that were weld on, (cage nuts) for access panels in the floor of my Willys. I'm a big fan of leaving access where ever possible, makes your life a lot easier in the future when everything is all together and you need to get at something.

you can probably find them cheaper than McMaster though.

  5. same here on the weld on
these come in smaller sizes, even for machine screws
makes a neat way to fasten small items

I'll be darned. That's exactly what I've been looking for (to replace rusted off "boxed in nuts" on a mid 60's car). Didn't know they existed. Thanks!
