When I was a kid my dad used to rub the dash and the words were always the say when cranking the old motor over’come on start ya bastard! ‘
Another one of his sayings I will never forget was ‘if it’s got tits or wheels it’s gonna cause you trouble boy and gonna cost you a fortune ‘
When rebuilding the stock car engines back in the day there was never any torque settings, just FT he said, years later I worked it out,f**king tight!!

I also heard from Thailand "I love you too much."

I was reasonably old when I finally figured out that cars were not either
a shitbox or a lump-dose. I maybe clued in when Gran called one a
shitbox-lumpdose before yelling that of all the bombs the Krauts dropped
on Britain why couldn't they spare a few to get the SOB who designed that car.

My Dad used to call foreign cars like Datsun and Toyota, "little itchinpussies"

  5. That's odd? Think he maybe had a bit of a dirty mind. My father would love that comment.

  6. I heard all kinds of things while I was holding the flashlight wrong. :D

Hell, until I was in my teens, I thought "on the rag" meant the car was broken.

"That god forsaken Hornet wagon is on the rag again!" :D:D:D

Pops always would look at some car, at some point they were declared "clean" meaning he approved of the condition and modifications or else it needed someone to "cherry it out". Most of our stuff desperately needed "cherried out" but we loved them all.
