Obviously which ever one i want but what do yall think? The 50 business coupe was built in the early 2000's. It has a later small block 302 with automatic tranny. It has ac. There is zero rust on this car and it has had some customization done as you can see. It runs great and only issue is that it has no backseat. It doesn't look horribly hard to install one though. The 49 deluxe underwent a rotisserie restoration about 2 years ago. Everything was done to original condition. A fenton header and dual exhaust was installed. Engine was rebuilt as well as tranny. All the wiring was redone like original so it is still 6v. Its a 3 on tree. Factory heater and am radio. This car also has zero rust and runs great with no issues. I want a car to cruise around town in with my wife and two little ones and maybe ride in local parades. I can purchase either car for about 14k give or take a couple hundred dollars either way. I was on my way to look at them today and make a decision when my mother n law fell and broke both ankles. We were literally backing out of driveway when it happened. Cars are located 3 hrs away from me. WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE? Im bored from staying home cause of the stupid virus and i figured this would keep me busy for a while. Chime in
The Chevy hands down. Minty fresh rotisserie vs the 15+ year old Shoe box that looks like it needs a going through (under hood cleanup, wiring). How many miles on the Ford, and was it a fresh or junkyard engine when it was installed? Don't care for a lot of the customizing choices. If the Chevy keeps the flipper wheel covers, I'd pull the front and rear gingerbread accessory bumper guards, shorten up the exhaust tips to clean things up, then drop the rear a couple of inches...
Im leaning more towards the chevy also. Id like to enjoy it as is and then lower the back some later on down the road. They're both sweet though.
I, too, love a shoebox (and have owned a '51) but I would definitely go with the Chevy in this case. That's a beauty! I think it would be perfect for the use you described.
Normally I would take a Ford over that year of Chevy but the Chevy has not been messed with like the Ford so I would get the Chevy
The Ford raises a couple of questions . Are you going to get tired of the red and does the customizing suit your taste , as it was built to suit someone else’s taste. Plus that Ford badge has got to go. The badge looks to new to even call it street roddy The plus for the Ford is you can take it on long trips with a more up to date set up. The Chev , well black is always cool. And you can drive a long distance but it will be the journey not the destination.
remember you have to go look at the cars well, no matter which one you choose. I see bad body alignment on the ford and the wiring is a mess. on the chevy I see replacement end on the battery ground and corrosion on that terminal. makes me think it is not as fresh a build as mentioned. carb leak? and corrosion on the radiator core. is that a spot of rust near the front edge of the door kick panel? pitting on the hinge? and what is the added gage? chevy had a full compliment of gages so one of them isn't working. just what I see from here...
@41rodderz i agree the badge is horrible and its actually orange. The ac is a plus and the newer engine also but man something about the black chevy really catches your attention.
Modern comfort and kids the ford. Classy would be the chevy. I would take the chevy hands down anyday.
@tb33anda3rd I asked about the spots and he said its dust only. Assured me no rust whatsoever. The battery terminals do look like replacements. Good catch.
I like em both. It’s almost like choosing between Ginger and Mary Ann. Ginger has been around the block a little more and has a little custom work. Head lights grill and bumpers have had some mods. I’m like most guys and enjoy that when tastefully done. She has a nice stance and vibe. Could use a little attention but overall a nice ride. Mary Ann is mostly stock and has a nice factory look. Her stock body lines have aged well. I can see Mary Ann with a slight drop, especially in the rear. If she is still running the factory 6, don’t over rev. If running a full pressure 6, enjoy. Ginger would be faster on the freeway. Mary Ann couldn’t keep up but will get you there eventually. A gear change or open drive and an OD trans would really wake her up. AC can be added to Mary Ann to cool her off on those long hot drives. But Ginger will also need some work to fit the family vibe you’re after. I’m married to a red head but for overall looks, I like Mary Ann but with a tail dragged style look. Either way you are in for a lot of fun. Edit: Mary Ann, according to the valve cover, has had some work done under the hood.
The Ford would have to be way less the 14,000 to begin to think about it,since the Chevy looks to be at a used car dealer it would be gone over very carefully.
