Thought I'd put a couple of photos of my Merc in the begining and how it looks now. Approaching 8,000 miles now and I love it 010.jpg IMG_0516.jpg

    Cool! Good idea, John.
Love to see all the before and after pictures. Instant gratification... don't have to go through a whole thread LOL!

Shoot... I could share a before picture. 54 Chrysler. Gonna take a while for the after picture.

    I'll be back. Hopefully.

  16. I started with a old amateur restoration, this truck was the quickest build I have ever done, start to finish in three months. HRP

  17. Great thread! Amazing to see the difference in pretty much all cases. Hopefully, I can add one that we are working on now fairly soon, but so far, it is more apart and maybe looks worse than when we started.

That Merc really looks good. No chop, driveable ride height...I dig it!

  19. The Ranch Wagon was purchased brand smacking new here in Anderson, South Carolina at Blue Ridge Motors by Brenda's grandmother to use as a delivery car for her flower shop.

This photo was taken when I drug the wagon out of the barn, this car took 7 long years to build.

There was a thread like this years ago, and it was about 50/50 the cars that were improved over ruined, some you really weren't sure if they reversed the before and after, a few you really hoped they did. But these are quite good. And the Merc is a beauty! I can't remember the last time I liked a 49-51 Mercury with black wall tires, but I sure do like that one.

I doubt the car will ever be a show piece. HRP

    I agree. Really looks good.
Shows that a custom car doesn't have to sit on the ground to look good. And if it does sit up a little higher, the unchopped top doesn't look so tall.
This is close to the look I want for my Chrysler. Definitely custom... but no chop for the top and a higher stance. Husky. Aggressive. Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Dark and shiny.
    Thanks for the inspiration, John.

Nice car, but I don't really see a custom. What is custom about it? looks like a stock Mercury to me.

You're right, pretty close to stock. Nosed and decked, I think. Custom interior. Probably a few other things, I don't know.
    Mild custom?
