Technical Mounting e&j headlights

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by koolbeans, Mar 17, 2019.

  1. I don’t hate em.
I just don’t think their contribution to most builds warrant the price.
I should have not made the original comment due to the OP not asking for opinions like that.
If the builder likes em, I’m happy.

I love those headlights on the right car, the OP does not have the right car or style for them.

  3. Come on now, no backpedaling allowed. ;)

I've seen only a few cars that I think look ok with them. All cars with them look like they have a face. Weird.

Never have cared for the looks of them. Too many others out there (king bee, dietz, etc) that look so much better. Always thought they were the worst designed accessory ever for a hot rod bar none.

To be fair though I did try looking at a set after a 6 pack and even thru beer goggles I couldn't talk myself into wanting to take a pair home AND it was 5.0 beer too !!

But to each his own so if you like them run them and enjoy.

Since this is a technical - on mounting e and j type 20s does any one have pics of the original mounts. I know of two different original mounts. One style casted in brass.

I love E&J’s on channeled cars , but I’m not a hotrod restorer ( correct bolts etc. )to me they are a Sculpter you can drive . Enjoy the hobby that is all this is , a hobby .

  13. In this case you would not have a concern...E&J lights were not a hot rod part BITD so your chances of coming across one that needed restoring and E&J lights are virtually nil. Except the Frank Mack roadster and that's a total of...one.

This E&J business is a modern fantasy.
