I have been doing google image searches like "1959 buick emblem" for a bunch of different kinds of cars, nothing yet, but you may try it too and see what you can find

I've been googling every make - hood and trunk emblems - from 1955 to 1960. He said it was a junkyard find so I'm surprised we haven't come up with something. Thanks for the info.

That's thinking outside the box. You never know. He said it was a junkyard find but didn't say what it was from...

I searched for appliances too and came up short. I also was trying foreign cars but I couldn't think of any more to try. Closest I could find was Fiat Multipla which is close but the center is not right.

Actually, that Fiat Multipla 600 part looks pretty good. The round part is aluminum and the insert could have been changed. I think I'll go on line and see if I can get dimensions on that. Thanks.

If he found the part in a junkyard, it makes perfect sense!

This continues to bother the shit out of me, but if I chase down any more rabbit holes I'm going to end up in Wonderland. I went off on a tangent thinking the center round section could be a tail light overlay (like what a '62 Impala has), or maybe a clock delete or reverse light delete, or even a fancy hubcap center section, but with extra outer fin pieces butted up to the sides. Came up empty on a solid match to any of that though.

I NEED to know what this thing is.

Maybe the side trim on a 60 Chrysler 300, reworked some? I am with squablow, I need to know what this thing is. Have googled domestic, foreign, appliances, trucks, semis, tractors nothing dead on.

Looking at the magazine pics, it almost looks like the whole insert is one piece. The Fiat is actually 3 pieces. I wish the magazine pictures were better quality. 20200428_214217 (3).jpg

I still don't think it's right, but it kinda looks like a '59 Buick hubcap spinner with long blades coming out of the sides. But the other straight-on magazine picture doesn't quite match up, and really does look like it's one piece.

That is interesting. Maybe it could be an existing emblem with the center changed out??

Maybe it came from a Motorola HiFi, or a Zenith multi-band radio.

That hubcap is the closest I have seen as far as matching the styling of the center. Unless it came from an appliance or something other than a vehicle I think that center piece had to of been modified. If the spears on this one were centered I would say its this, but they are not.

Below isn't it, but maybe its a steering wheel cap with spears added or modified horn ring?

I started looking at horn buttons last night thinking that might be the insert. The Buick hubcap is the closest yet.

Blowing up the pic, I am not so sure its one piece. Really hard to say because of the pic quality. To me it looks like a center piece and then the spears cut and put over it, but could just be shadowing.

It is hard to tell. I'm still hoping to find more magazine articles - hopefully with a better pic or a description of the insert.

Here is a better photo if someone can figure it by scaling it.

'55 Merc has a similar shape but the center is too big for the width of the fins.

It would be nice to find a picture of one of those Buick hubcap spinners unbolted from the cap to see what it looks like separately. I'm still skeptical but that's the closest thing I found.
