Here’s the latest. I got the 327 that came in the car cleaned up and painted. I had my local Jobber color match the Lakewood bell for a uniform look. I can’t tell anything about it spec wise, but it ran good so I’m just gonna run it as is. I put a new Melling oil pump in before installing the aluminum pan. It took a lot to convince myself to drill and tap a hole in the side of the NOS Cal-Custom pan for an oil temp gauge sender.

Ya woulda thought putting the clutch/trans together would have been a snap out of the car, but it was a chore. I think the new stuff (McCleod flywheel, clutch, P/P, and Lakewood bell) must have higher tolerances than the old worn GM or no name parts I’ve used in the past. The Muncie is a trans my older brother fully polished back in the 80’s for a stalled ’40 Ford project. After some horse trading it’s now in a car where it can actually be seen.

I just couldn’t help but see how it looks with injectors on there. Cool, but it’s gonna have dual quads…at least for now.

The next step is to plumb up the hydraulic clutch and see if it works. I’m using a ’40 master cylinder, a ’60 Chevy PU slave, pushing an early ‘50’s Chevy fork that @Rocky gave me.

You may want to think about putting some stops on your brake and clutch pedal to keep the rods in place if the pedals are lifted up. D

It's been a while so I thought I'd let you know where I'm at on the car. I stopped working on it about June of last year and didn't get back on it until Christmas. Most all of the mechanicals are now together and I am ready to wire it. I've been putting that off since it's one of those jobs I really don't like to do, so I gotta just dive in. I don't like the modern looks of the kits, so I build my own panel and use glass fuses. Once I get that done I'll be ready for a test firing.

First drive in years. Hopefully it will be completely assembled by the weekend.

I've got some video on my phone but I'm a dinosaur with technology so it will probably never be uploaded to the net.

One benefit of Covid is more project time. Will there be a debut soon?

Well the car made it to Goodguys in Des Moines last weekend. It was a mad thrash to get it there, and it almost didn’t make it. Sunday the 28th was the first time I test drove it out of the garage. We ran it up and down my driveway enough to know it needed more tuning. Unfortunately there was a ton of other stuff that had to be done to make the car presentable that we didn’t have any time to tune. We were still bolting on parts Thursday night before calling it quits for Friday’s show. So I limped it around the fairgrounds. It was hard to believe it had been 5 years ago that I bought it there. I truly didn’t think it would take me so long. But it was worth the wait. You can tell it’s the same car, but I actually did change a lot on it. Besides most of the yellow paint, most of the upholstery, the rear suspension, and the long block, it is a totally different car. Now that the HAMB Drags have been cancelled, I can take a breather and not be so rushed trying to get all the bugs worked out. Here’s the mostly finished product. I will eventually run a hood top and am deciding if I’m going to put a front bumper on it.
