Batwings From 1932 Wishbones - Finished:

The batwings went from tacked-in-place to finish-welded as we concentrate on finishing the front end.

Based on the color of the batwings in your photo, did you have some sort of heat treatment performed on them to enhance their physical properties? Just curious.

Steve, it's just the lighting (and being welded on). I tried to lighten up the pic, too, so there might be some unnaturalness.

Not much happening but the @thunderbirdesq dropped 32 axle is in, the chrome A shackles are fancying (?) up the front, the spindle bushing are reamed and the arms are dropped (we had a clearance issue going through the hair pins).


I was supposed to be on the road to grab it, yesterday, but that plan was shut down by the current madness.

Hopefully soon.

 

@-Brent- That is one sexy drop on the axle, suits the car perfectly.

 

All the work is very nice. I appreciate the hand made parts that are built from other old parts. Also the whole built not bought styling.

And so did I. Very inspirational. Most of us could only dream to weld like that.

 

Front axle and tie rod in - final stance:

We're at the final push. The car is going to be set aside for a week so Ryan can knock out the Tatra. So, most of the Model A parts that were scattered throughout the shop were put where they belong.

I had ordered a tie rod from Nostalgia Sid and that got put in. The arms were bent for the tie rod to run under, rather than through the hairpins like originally planned. Other than that, the steering is almost set. The steering hoop does needs to be bent/adjusted a bit and when the car is home, I am going to adjust the pitman arm bend a little more.

The car is jacked up to adjust/finish the ladder bars.



One of my favorite angles of the car.



The front wheels tuck under the fenders nicely.



Upper shock mounts need to be done, shocks mounted and then steering hoop adjusted to fit so it clears everything.



I think this angle will look better when I have the steelies and a more streetable rear tire in the back.





Then I see this view and I forget all about running narrower rear tires.

You can see the rear frame horns poking out.





I can't wait for you guys to see the bumpers.

In this shot that rear diff is begging for some chrome and or silver paint. That is all any competitors will see when you blast by them.

 

If it's not black (with some "panel" striping) it will be white.
