Hey there, I’m having trouble finding a group, or answer on the HAMB. I tried asking on the “Chrome-reverse” thread but got no response. Does anyone have pictures of a 32 to 34 Ford with the fenders, and 820 cheater slicks? I’m trying to go for that American graffiti look on my 33 sedan, but I only have 3 1/2 inch of clearance to the fender edge from the axle flange So I’m wondering if 820s will fit inside of the opening, if they stick out an inch or so? I know I can adjust the height, Im talking about the size of the opening, without cutting. Right now with all the measurements I figured out, I can put 15 x 7 series 64 wheelvintiques custom reversed, with a maximum backspace of 3 1/4. Which I figured will put the rims out an inch past the fender lip. I found a picture of this awesome 34 coupe for sale, do you think these are 820s or are they special made like from towel city? I love the stance of the scoop, I think mine will look the same but the wheel will stick out about an inch to an inch and a half. Thanks Rick

Every car in that movie had chrome reverse rims and a rake in the back! That’s what I’m talking about
The big question is what’s the clearance between the inside if the tire and the body? what’s your rear axle measure wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface ?
Seems your kinda going the long way around the barn. Chasing a reversed wheel (DEEP dish with max front space moves the wheels out) while looking for maximum back space to move the wheels back in. The trick 8 wheel ,,, gives the look of deep dish with 2-1/4” back space. They start with a 10” rim and cut 2” off the back so the DEEP front fits to the body. With 3-1/4” front space to the fender I’m guessing your availability on back space is big because the rear axle is wide.

Its all about the correct look. Actual reversed, i can put 8 inch rims on there if I leave them the standard way they’re built and just adjust the backspace to fit. I got bukoo clearance on the backside My dad had to go and put a wide 8 inch in there!!! Its close to 60”
10”s with a 4 1/4 backspace That’s what was on it forever, a little to far out for me! Half that distance sticking out would be Ok
I get the look of reversed wheels, Wheels and tires make or break a car. Sometimes guys build the car around that too. In the picture, with 4.25” back space plus a pretty big tire bulge you’ve still got what looks like 2+” on the inside before the tire comes to the body. Now comes the point of my post,,,,, That rear axle is just too wide. ( you described it, pics show it) that’s the root of your problem. there’s more than enough room to tuck 1/2 of the n50 on that reversed 15x10 stick out in there. You pick your poison on this one,,,, will the driving force be the wheels and tire combo with the look and stance you want and the rear end width submitting or will it be the rear axle width dictate living with what fits. Right now you’re trying to play nice and find something that’s kinda sorta maybe close to the look you want but fits on that rear as is. For me cutting the rear down is the correct thing because it’s too wide anyways.
Baack in the 60's I had a 32 5W with 15" reversed wheels with 820X15 double eagle WWW. On a rough road the lower fender lip would hit the side of the tire (tube shocks). Put a 2" spacer on top of the rear spring. Front tires were 670x15's double eagles also. Paul in CT
I ran thru your build thread to get a glimpse of that rear end,,, Just to see how it’s set up and how wide it is or get an idea of WMS to wheel well. Best I could find. Nothing of use but sure looks like a mile and a half. I bet you could bolt up late model mustang wheels on there with deep FWD offset. Now I did see talk of redoing those parallel radius rods to P&J style . That would be a good time to get your duckies in a row wheel and tire wise while you’re cutting and welding on that rear end
A Maverick rear should be about the right length. They are about four inches shorter than what you have. May be hard to find one.
I decided Im sticking with 8” that’s in there! It’s worked for 30 years, I’m just gonna refurbish it. I don’t have money for a whole new set up. Man that’s way different that cheater slicks. Soooooooo why won’t you post the measurements? Stock was 56-1/2” Yeah it’s been in there for 30 years / getting the job done for 30 years ?
I was reading that stock 32-34 was 57 1/2 or little closer to 58, mine is 59 3/4 or there about, it’s worked fine all these years it’s just a little wider than I like but I’m not gonna spend two grand and a shit load of work to change it. I change my mind on wheel styles all the time anyway, there’s several time periods I like. Late 40’s lakester style Early 60’s Chrome OEM style look Mid to late 60’s Gasser/ Munsters Radir Rim look Etc. Chrome reverse it is one of them. Is all I was really getting at. I just got to make my mind on how I want to do it, or do you like my dad does and has several different wheels. But of course that’s more money!!!
