Thought I'd share a few pics of the phaeton I picked up back in February. Hoping to get her roadworthy soon. She was in the final assembly stage of a frame off restoration when the 93 year old PO passed away. I'm pretty stoked to have this car. I've wanted one since I was about 10 when i first saw one at the Louisville Nats. I'm taking my time and making sure it's right. Still waiting on a few parts I've ordered. So far I've sourced most of the missing bits along with a luggage rack, finished the wiring, pulled the dash and had it wood grained and re-installed with all new knobs etc. I still have to do a thorough nut and bolt underneath and get her running consistently (seems to be a fuel pump issue), paint a few bits the paint shop missed (cowl vent, tail lights and spare tire cover) and put the top on. Nice looking car. A friend of mine has a restored one here, I imagine there are only a couple of them in NZ.
Good looking tourer. Looks like all the hard and expensive work has been done and you just have to finish it off. What year engine is that?
Great looking car but the wire nut in the wiring under the hood needs to go. They did a really nice job on the restoration, Washington Blue really looks good on the car ! A friend of mine has a basically stock 36 (21 stud flathead, slightly lowered, 40 wheels and brakes, duals with glasspacks) and cruises down the road at 60 with no problems. Beautiful car !
It's already gone. That pic was from when I picked it up Sent from my SM-G973U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Please Please Please do not put that Sweetheart on that POS Trailer again. Strap in made for holding down way less than a car. Gorgeous she is. Woodgrain awesome .
Looking forward to the pics of the dropped axle, reversed spring eyes, and the new big N' little rubber.
I'm a 35 guy myself, but I couldn't pass this one up based on price and quality of the in progress restoration. It's already got juice brakes, and the later 24 stud engine. I may eventually add a dropped axle and some engine hop up stuff, but for now i'm going to leave it like this. I just picked up an accessory luggage rack too.
