Purely as a side distraction, there is only one place in Wisconsin where this picture could have been shot, and if you know it, what was it used on or for, now ruminate on that one as well !

I think it has to do with pressing on the early hard rubber tires on early wooden spoke wheels, like you, this will bug me all night.

In Canada we used to have public garbage cans that looked like this in the 50 s and 60s.

OK, I will play again. Fair warning, this isn't a part used in the automotive world. The only hint you get is, it was an integral part of daily retail operations in a variety of big stores. Only us geezers will have ever seen these in operation.

Thank you for playing, but that is a wrong guess, ticker tape machines had the ability to print, this machine doesn't have that capability. Guess again.

Thanks for playing, another wrong guess, this unit doesnt dispense any string, guess again. How ever to keep you interested, it does " Transport something " in two directions.

Nope, this unit has nothing to do with ticker tape machines at all. It will surprise you to know what it is when you find out, as stated, only us geezers 67 years of age and older will have ever seen these in operation back in the day. Guess again.

One of them money carrying dohickeys. They went on wires, before we had the series of tubes.

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner. The lamson trolley was used in the time period where none of the cashiers in the bigger department stores could be trusted to make change accurately. The customer would give the cashier a 20.00 bill, and along with a sales receipt, the clip on the bottom held the sales slip, an inertia reel kicker would shoot the trolley up on the wire that was stretched from the cashiers stand, up to a window through a wall upstairs where a person would take the money, and put the change in the wooden cup and then a ratchet release would let the trolley free wheel via gravity gradient and it would go back to the sales person and then the change would come out of the wooden cup! And yes, this was before the LAMSON vacuum tube transfer system. The mirrored part has nothing to do with the trolley, it was just to see if I could fool you. Bravo, good guess indeed !

All of you have a great safe and healthy Friday evening, this older geezer is going to go generate a smile that isn't based upon alcohol, or is that a paper cocktail ? Anyway, it takes 3 hands to accomplish this. Thanks for playing!

There was a store in my home town that had one them trolleys.
It went from the upstairs office down to the check out counter at the front of the store.
It was cool...you would here a ding as the person released the ratchet lever then a click and then a high pitch zing as it zipped down the wire caring notes ,receipts or money down to the front desk/counter..
    And I'm 58 and I remember it.
