Yea, well...... that hood scoop alone screams anything but vintage '60s traditional styled hot rod. The car is a beauty, but the build style is definitely not what the HAMB is all about.

AND exactly what "sub-forum" is this Studebaker thread in...??? Oh wait, let ME answer it for you: Traditionally "Styled" Hot Rods, Customs, & Production Cars.

It doesn't state anything about "build style," hood scoops or WHAT the HAMB is about -if you want that, then don't stray from the "Traditional Customs"' sub-forum or the "Traditional hot rods" sub-forum. My '55 Cadillac isn't completely traditional simply because I have a 1970 500" engine & T-400 tranny in it and I run radial tires...but you won't see me posting it on the "Traditional Customs" sub-forum.

Personally, I like the hood scoop, the black paint and I like '53/'54 Studey coops...

C'mon, man. You've been a member here two years longer than I have- Ryan's made it clear many times what he intended the HAMB for. From just that head-on pic alone, it does not look even close to a broad definition of a "traditionally styled" build. I am not knocking the car at all. Just pointing out why it may be considered "too new".

Here's my '60 Lark. Good clean fun. 4-speed and small block. Tons of fun to drive...Oh, it's for sale too.

    Well...
I've been a HAMB guy (and even a HAMB Alliance guy)...
Did a build series on the back of this car (put a spoiler on it).
The whole thread was trashed because the mods said it was too new.
    Hence the comment......
This car has a STUDE V8 in it, where half the rods on here have newer engines...
Where do you draw the line? Beats me...

Rules and enforcement of them seem mysterious at times. Pretty hard to draw a straight line through all of this. That's a cool Stude no matter what.

  15. he is one I sold to a young kid in 1972, guess what he still has it in perfect condition, I enjoy seeing it at local shows knowing how much he loves the car, best part when I got it was on its way to junkyard had had an accident owner thought it wasn't worth fixing ,it took several trophies at local shows last year

  19. This is 53 COOP, my '53 Commander with its stock V-8 and overdrive for now. As soon as I get done with a buddy's '41 Chevy Coupe that he has owned since 1963 but had not moved since 1966, I will get on this project.

    I am building a 354 Hemi, TKO500, 3.73 8.8 combo for it.

Plans are to chop it about 2.5", '56 Buick taillights, '55 Chevy headlights, etc.

I don't remember if I posted these in this thread, or another one a while back.
    If I made a mistake it's worth repeating :)

259 Stude powered. A lot of homemade speed equipment and home made ingenuity. :)

The black Lark in post 471 was owned, built, n driven by Mike Scherer . Wheels-up launch was sop. Car burned up in a garage fire years ago. Mike is a very nice guy, car was also very nicely built.
