During this down time, I thought what a great idea to throw out old paper work, boxes , etc. etc. Rearrange tool boxes , parts and shelving so a better productive flow and goodies are never out of sight , out of mind. Like really out of mind , as in purchased tools, old car parts etc. Cleaning up and cleaning out I ran across four 1961 Dodge chrome taillight complete with lenses in great shape , sets of GTO taillights , old horns , drill press new in box from a couple of decades ago. And a really old metal American Flyer engine and tracks . Found new aluminum brackets and complete adjustable rear splined NASCAR Cup torsion sway bar from Dale Earnhardt Incorporated . 1966 Cadillac tilt telescopic column parts to put everything back together. This is just off one back shelf. More shelves to go and I haven’t even got to the cupboards or rafters which are stuffed to the hills. Anyone else discovering treasures you forgot about from years or decades past ? Looking forward to a few grins , chuckles and “Oh yeahs”.

  2. I lost an entire t5 transmission after I put it in a safe place. Took me a week to find it.

  4. Yeah, an entire drill press in the box is a weird one.

Well , I usually have two or three of everything and space gets tight so if not an immediate need , time marches on and large items make the foundation for a well balanced pile .:D

I used to buy some new and used Cup parts off of DEI , Childress and Roush . So a few items collecting dust and falling through the cracks of the shelf or my mind ,which seems to happen more frequently are expected. Frequent surprises or “Christmas “ coming early happens every two to three years.:)

^^^That sounds like a line from a country-western song^^^. I tend to toss stuff out rather than it getting in the way, and then I regret it later. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Yeah. I'm seventy and, at some point, I'm gonna have to reduce my footprint. I'm the end of my branch of the family and nobody wants most of my stuff (not car stuff). I'm disposing of a few boxes a week. I go slow because it always puts me in a melancholy funk for a few hours.

  12. I had 3 grandkids, plus their parents, visiting for Spring Break. I always keep $200 in miscellaneous bills in my nightstand for making change at swapmeets. As part of childproofing and prepping for nosey, busy little people, I put the money in a safe place. I can't remember where that "safe place" is, though. I've been looking for a month.

  21. True story, stopped at the store on the way to the shop and got me a six pack of country boy. It was in the evening after i normally don't see anybody. Pulled one out and started drinking it. Got a text message from a friend that he sent a guy to me about painting a car. I said great! He said he just wanted me to know he was a preacher, so i didn't stick my foot in my mouth and make an ass out of myself ya know. So i put the other 5 beers away when i seen a car pulling in. Long story short, somewhere around here is 5 country boy beers

Didn't you say something in another thread about pissing off a preacher? Seems to be a recurring theme.....

a friend that passed away years ago had a car collection - did not keep all of them in one place - wife only thought he had about 5 or 6 - through talking to his buddies, etc found about 30 more - no one ever knew if they found all of them

I've gotten to where I write what's in the unmarked box/boxes when it?they go/goes onto the shelf, and so it's/they're facing OUT, so I can read what's in it. It's also why I don't like anyone in my shop/garage, especially the ones that can also read. I also used to be OCD organized, but I'm losing that fight the last few years. Comes a time!!! Anyone else notice the relationship this thread has to a lot of songs? Maybe it's just me? I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Your better than me . I think about writing on boxes but figure I will know where and what it is. Doesn’t seem like it is working for me but I hate change .:D
