Travel 1300 miles to look at it? Is it out in the Pacific Ocean? Leave it there!

I'll bet there are more cars being built now that are called customs but are "miss proportioned" way worse than that, especially with a 49-51 Ford coupe. IMO. And I am predigest.

""Never understood why someone would screw up an otherwise good looking car. If you wind up buying it plan on keeping it the rest of your life. You can't give garbage like that away. It proves that drugs and car building just don't go together.""

Yeah a lot of times the view doesn't fall far from the tree; meaning the owner of the car you don't like probably doesn't like yours either.o_O First thing I do is look at the opinion's avatar. Then I have an opinion of the opinion.;) Which means that I have the same body part (a$$hole) as everyone else.:)

Running sbc, guessing here. Front fenders look funny at rockers and front, bumpers are driver quality, just noticed the hi back seats.

A thousand bucks in parts, unless you get nitty gritty. Like sell the cowl/windshield area, and every little part.

  8. Looks silly.

looks well done, but silly. There take on a business coupe.

what are they asking for it?
    I’m sure it’s not cheap!

there’s a shorty 57 olds up here and a split widow vw bus shorty that they are asking huge bucks for and have been for sale for a looooooong time.

almost bought a 55 4 door, clean running inline 6 car under 5 grand.
Looked into the 2 door conversion and it’s not overly difficult or expensive.
By the time I decided to pull the trigger the car was gone.

anyways, 55’s are one of my favourite cars in any iteration, gasser, dragster, restored, hotrod, custom liken all
    This one........ not really.

mid ya want a business coup by a 54 or older Chevy business coupe !!

This is exactly what I thought when I first looked at it. I wonder what it would look like as a convert with a lower(chopped) windshield?

Pretty typical for most people to read the first and last post in most threads and nothing in between.... happens a lot , has always bothered me too....

MHO: Tri-Five styling does not improve with body mods. GM did some of their best body work on those models. Stick to performance upgrades.

Kinda looks like it had a bad head on collision and a new front clip installed.

Fix the fender openings, cut the top off, chop the windshield frame.

Then pull the motor/trans and trunk lid and throw it away

is it on a different frame? why would you do that to the fenders? what happened to the tires fitting the fenderwells????
he would have been time and money ahead to have restored what he started with back to original. not to mention there would be 20 times the buyers for a nice stock 4 door as a shorty with odd proportions..

thats what happens when you build a car in a small one car garage and don't take it outside until you are done

Being sectioned makes the front bumper look way too high. If the bumper was mounted lower and had a stock grille installed, that would help the proportions a bit. Looks like he was trying to build something along the lines of the Imperial Speedster?

I guess he's not driving 1300 miles... I was looking forward to the follow on thread where we get to see him prepping the car for a repaint and discovers what's really under the current paint...
