Having that much documentation on any car is rare, thank you for sharing it, looking forward to the rest of the story. Bob

Paul got married in 1965 and sold the Chevy so he could get a down payment for a house. The car went to Canada and was painted tangerine metal flake and shown as the “ circuit breaker “

  10. wow that is some great documentation! So much better organized that what Ron gave us when we bought Taboo back. Its great to see a northwest built car with all of its history. There were some really great cars built in the northwest that seemed to get overshadowed by all the California cars. Its great to see how much magazine exposure this car got back in the 60s. I'm curious if Taboo showed in some of the same shows. I know Ron went to the Seattle area quite a bit between 59-61. From my records 63 was the year Taboo was pulled off the show circuit, so not much of a window of the blue version being together.

the car traded hands in Canada and was put into storage in 1974. fast forward to 1998 when Paul received a phone call from the then current owner, It seems he saw Pauls name written in yellow crayon on the spare tire and wanted info on the car as he was going to sell it. And Paul bought the car back after over 3 decades and rebuilt the Buick engine, restored the electronics (put in a modern tv and dvd player)

The time came to repaint the car, one of the pages in the scrapbook has some of the tangerine paint that was scraped off.

Thank you for this excellent thread. It shows just how many times a custom can change over the course of it's life. Great Karma that Paul got the car back. No one better to work on her then the original builder.

Paul Passed away from cancer and the car was listed on Ebay in Oct of 07. I bid on the car but the reserve was not met. I had asked Pauls widow the question "do you have the original tv and radio?" because I thought they should be put back in the car. She told me that she had told Paul he was making a mistake putting that modern stuff in the car. She was impressed that I would put it back so she sold me the car for my bid amount even though it was way below their reserve price. When the car arrived here it came with 75 trophies that it won in the sixties, a ton of extra relays elect motors and switches for repairing the various electronic gadgets, the scrapbooks with hundreds of historic photos. A copy of every magazine it ever appeared in and I did not know about this part until it arrived.... a small heart shaped urn with some of Pauls ashes in it.... first time I ever got that much stuff with a car, let alone part of the original owner

Here is a pic of the car on the day it showed up. The only changes I have made to the car since are reinstalling the original tv and radio and replacing the chrome smoothie wheels with real OE chrome reverse wheels and more correct 2 1/4 inch bias ply whitewall tires

What a great story to see that he got the car back later in life and restored it close to how he last had it and enjoyed it again.

  24. Yeah Mark ,
The first pic I ever saw was the one of you backing it up the drive with your shoes on the concrete beside it .
I knew several pages ago that it seems familiar,,,,but it was white,,,,and then the swivel seats being mocked up originally,,,,I thought to myself,,,,those are like Marks !
Then the blue paint,,,I still didn’t catch it for a while .

I will say that you have done an awesome with it,,,it was very nice before,,,, but,,it gleams now !
Paul would certainly be proud to know that you own it,,,,and how great care you will take of it !
I hope his family knows this too .
