...I must say this Hamber made 1 post and unfortunately no more...however he shared one of the most unusual Hotrods I have seen in my time here...It was driven by Elmer and Bud Vess...and I suspect the Hamber is the Son/Grandson of...;)

    Quoted below by Hamber @vessel3...
"My grandfather built this car in 1947. It is a 27 T bucket, with a 39 Buick nose job-modified. 37 to 40 running gear powered by a 40 V8 ford 60hp. I am currently restoring it."

The Thread below is the only one he posted with little acknowledgement...perhaps having a connection to his Grandpa...

    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...c-club-called-the-cranks-1947-to-1953.425624/

In closing I hope he is in good health and was able to complete his restoration...

    paging @Jimmy B

I'm wondering if Vess recorded any times at El Mirage?...

    I'm gonna chuckle a little because I'm guessing the trucks a Dodge...:D

Whenever someones trying to Identify something so many times it's dodge it's a joking expression now when we're stumped...

Yes. a Dodge. At least a 3/4 ton but maybe a 1 ton pickup. Probably top speed between 45-50 mph but would pull anything you hook it to at that speed.

This Thread Covers most of the Wild Stuff you can Think of in Style...Including that
    I think I'm Good...

Smoothed wheel-wells even that thread went over good...not

This Hudson Joe Roadster is one of the most Smoothed Hotrods I've seen though...

...Street legal Drag Hotrod...careful pipes are hot!!...myself as one who was to young to experience these days really enjoy these historical glimpses and never tire of them...

    Hope you do to...;)

This pic is another of Hamber @George Klass's collection...

Here's a quote from his bio...

"This is about my memories of drag racing "back in the day". I was there, I lived it. If I get some facts or data wrong, it’s just the way I remember it and no one’s memory is infallible. At my age, "Memory Lane" is not always a pleasant address."

I was old enough but for some reason just skirted the edges. I should have jumped into the middle.

Reversed wheels, are a lot of it. Look how much brake drum is showing.

I'd say that you nailed it @bowie...;) Maybe there was adapters on top of that...how long have those been around.

I don't think it flatters it by any means.

Maybe that was popular in track racing for better handling and this Hotrodder liked the look. I haven't noticed that in Hotrod and my eyes have seen a lot in historical pics too date...

Looks kind of early for adapters, to me. I agree , probably done for handling. Sure takes away from the looks of a really nice rod.

I like it. I reversed a lot if wheels and ran them as did several of my friends in the early 60s. A lot of swapping the centers you needed to a different outer. No adapters needed. Then chrome reversed wheels became affordable and wheel choice was handed over to the after market. The beginning of the end. :D

That may be but the widths seem to be very close...Now the link below to a chart and thread by our Late Hamber Friend Bruce Lancaster...

    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/ford-axles.55439/

That all said every bit wider adds, adds, adds...

I believe my Ole Jalopy has a 36 Ford front axle without a drop...
