Technical White steering wheel

Anyone know of a white metal flake steering wheel that’s available, new or used.

I have done zero research for myself, hoping someone will take pity and help a brother out!

I spent a lot of time looking for a white steering wheel for my 58, I don’t recall ever seeing a white metal flake steering wheel. There is a Facebook group for metal flake steering wheels, If you use Facebook that might be a place to start.

  5. I know Moon still makes a white steering wheel and a silver metalflake one, but I don’t think I have ever seen a white metalflake wheel.

  6. Well maybe I’m looking for something that doesn’t exist then, maybe it’ll be plain white.

Thanks for the suggestions, what did you end up going with @BLACK SHEEP?

Would it work to spray a white wheel with clearcoat/metalflakes? (Then multiple clearcoats)?

  13. Ok, the white metal flake would be metal flake over a white base, silver metal flake would be metal flake over a silver base.

If I am doing the entire interior in white then would the silver flake wheel stand out? Or should I go with plain white? Looking for opinions.

  14. What kind of wheel are you wanting? As mentioned you could paint a solid wheel white and then paint white flake over that and clear. If you are looking for the usual metal flake style wheel then I would think solid white would look better that silver.

I'm using a plain white wheel with an all white interior in my '40.

  17. Looking for a wheel like this. Only in white, although maybe I should paint an original. Hmmm.....

I also have one out of a 59 regal.

  18. I assume those are solid wheels that are just painted with metal flake if so you could get a solid white one and flake it yourself with white flake. Edit: I see Mooneyes says they are rubber so I would be leery about painting one. I painted this one white (was Black) for my truck would be easy to add flake to it as well.

  19. yea grants are as well so I’m leery of painting them as well, I’ll likely just go with white and call it good.

Moon Eyes has several styles and diameters of white wheels, I chose a Grant due to the shallower dish. Con2R has a lot of options too but they are kind of expen$ive

  22. Oops! I wrote this up hours ago but went to run some errands and never posted.

Metal flake steering wheels are usually transparent, "candy" colors. So a"white" metal flake wheel is usually clear with suspended silver flakes embedded throughout and is often designated as "silver" when you are doing a search.
A solid color, opaque white with some flake blended in is going to be sort of rare, I would think, but anything is possible.

I meant to spray a white wheel with clearcoat with gold or silver flake in it. It would probably wear pretty quickly though.

  28. To do flake properly you spray it on over the base (usually in an intercoat clear) then bury it in a bunch of clear coat. Would wear just as well as any other part painted in automotive paint.
