Saw this one in a 1956 F100 at Puyallup, if my memory is correct it was out of Port Angeles, Washington.

Next engine after the SOHC in Ford's engine development program:
    The Ford 427 "Calliope" engine
Very compact design, aluminum block, double cam-in-block, three valves per cylinder, twin water pumps - one on each head like old Ford flathead engine, injectors cast as part of head casting,

Intended for 1968 Le Mans and Ford G7A but FIA and ACO would not allow the engine to run in Europe after Ford MkIV won Le Mans in 1967 and FIA changed rules to keep the engine out. (G7's were built in 1968 on MkIV Spyder chassis.)
Mario Andretti testing G7A in 1968 - yes that is an articulated wing.

I recall an article in Hot Rod Magazine years ago about a guy who had one in a Ford Galaxie street car. There was also a feature on a '33 or '34 coupe that ran one with a supercharger on the street.

  16. Spent big dollars on a repop or NOS Rotunda R-1A oil filter, then installs aftermarket red plug wires and non-Mustard-top coil? (Or is it the lighting that's fooling me?)

Oh, there's more than that. The headers, pulleys, it's a modern SOHC. I'd still like to have it though.:)

  18. Yutan & RmK..........that is the Revell/Liberty 1/6th scale diecast & plastic engine, originally by Revell, it was available as a kit & built model, I used to sell them............the U shaped front engine "mount" gives it away..........and it was available as a blown/injected FED version as well.........as far as I know only the built Liberty brand versions are available now..........here in Oz Rocket Industries have them for about $65 Oz.......regards, andyd
