You could spray it with silicon spray, wd40 or Pam cooking spray. on longer road trips why not put a piece of window screen in front of the grill ?
I made a reducing adapter and a 4 foot piece of flexible vacuum cleaner hose that slips over the end of my electric leaf blower. First I use it from behind the radiator to loosen up the bugs and crap, then blow it off from the front. It was the only way I could figure out how to clean a radiator that is behind '32 grille bars.
I would think that cooking spray would work best. it is more heat resistant than says liquid wrench or WD40. The rad should only get to a couple hundred degrees but still that is hot. I use lemon pledge on the aluminum bits on my motors to make them easier to clean. It seals them up good so that the glunk don't get into the pours but I have never tried it for radiator bugs.
Beaner, what a great idea with pledge on alum! Bugs in the radiator are just one of those things that makes a car cool. I can tell you who drives their car and who pulls it in a trailer by some crusty old bugs. Wear them as a badge of honor.
You need to let it dry (?) for a couple of hours, if you get it hot right away it will darken on you. Spray it and wipe it and go take a nap. I remember cruising (walking) through a hot rod show (NSRA or the like) and listing to a fella say that the trick keeping the bugs off if you were going to drive it was to put and extra layer of past wax on the front of the car then just go to the wand wash when you got where you were going. Two cars down from that guy was a '37 Chebby that had bugs all over the front of it. I got up close and discovered that at least 2/3 of them were painted on. I talked with the guy and he said that he got tired of trying to get the bugs off at a show so he painted them on for camouflage. I still like the idea. I know that this is undesirable (at least for me) but they do make a nose bra for almost anything. That may help.

I have never got the whole trailered car hating thing. If a guy wants to drive everywhere and put the wear and tear, maintenance, etc. and is happy with that form of enjoying his hotrod, then that is exactly what he should do. On the other hand If a guy gets his enjoyment from trailering in a car that is as perfect as he can build it and maintain it, slowly cruise around for a little cruising then that is exactly what he should do. I see both sides and don't understand why others care how another guy enjoys his car. Non of us are clones and I just can't get passionate about either way.
My son uses this stuff on his Razer when he goes slogging thru mud. He says it keeps pretty much anything from sticking to the razer when he hoses it off . man, I had a grasshopper that was stuck to the radiator that was almost as big as a chicken!! Well not that big but I was sad when it fell off.
This isn't what you asked, but if you have a car with an exposed radiator like a Model A, just use a toothbrush to clean the bugs off the fins. If you let them dry, they actually flake off even easier. You'd be surprised at how quickly you actually can clean it with just a toothbrush. Ya gotta go horizontally with the fins though. Just don't tell your spouse why their toothbrush always looks dirty
That would be a site. Then you would have to explain why. If it will help, I'll sacrifice the 32 and drive in front of you to clear the path. Hopefully all the events don't get shut down this summer.
