Projects Creative grill shells?

Looking for pics of creative grill shells. I may have to add "wings" to slightly widen mine. Thanks

I remember seeing that car in a magazine when I was just a young pup and instantly loved it. It was something different.

That would be GRILLED...as in interrogated at the local Police station

 

Farm-all tractor gas tank stood on end with a garage built stainless insert.

I like it because it has a definite 60's look to it. Definitely not a standard looking Model A hiboy on a deuce frame.

 

Just started reading my August 1959 hot rod magazine and thought of this thread. The grill itself looks like a piranha in a funny way.

Willys don't really have a grille shell but I had to come up with a replacement grille for my '36 coupe 'gasser'. No stock replacements were available back then, Started with an aluminum panel with two vertical rows of 3" drilled holes. Didn't like it. Thought about a louvered solid panel but likely wouldn't have enuf air flow. Finally made a perforated aluminum panel with a chrome rod grille made from 3/16" gas welding rod.

 

I wish it was, but its not mine, I photographed it at the Arlington drag strip gathering at the Arlington airport about 12 years ago. Its got some very stylish lines, I love fat fenders as well!

 

Doing a custom shell that looks good is super hard to get right. Some mod shells are not bad all alone,but added to a car that dose not flow design wise with that shell,often is were they fail. If the car body is not also custom of the same type design,the flow that can make it work,is just not there and things will look out of place. Look again at the custom shells you kind of like,to see if they fit with the car.
I know in some cases,it's a thing,were you need"Eye Of The Time",how ever those that work well,don't.
Use this thought,as you get ideas,make drawing, or look at ideas. It hopefully saves the time wasted on chop an fit,when what your after,was not what you jump into with both feet. In the end,the only guy that need to be happy,is owner.

 

Some are pretty nice, but others make you appreciate Henry's Deuce shell design even more.
