  2. No Pat I wish it was. I did have a 61 back in the day though . I bought it from a friend of mine who got drafted at the same time I was coming home from Vietman with the money I saved while I was over there. The L88 427 was just introduced and I read in one of the hot rod magazines about a guy who crammed one into an early Vette. I went to my local Chevy dealer and asked the parts guy if I could order one. He looked it up and said a complete engine was not available. I asked if the parts were available separately and he found that they were but he didn't have the time to look them all up and order them. I told him the story about my just getting out of the army and how I wanted to stuff the engine into my 61 Vette and he took pity on me and told me to meet him early the next Saturday AM and we could look up all of the parts and he would get them on order. I did that and after a few weeks I got everything put together and managed to get it into the Vette. I had to fabricate my own set of headers and I installed the later 66 Vette big block hood scoop to give me enough hood clearance and I was good to go. That thing was the fastest car in town at the time and a heck of a lot of fun. I made the mistake of selling it to buy a 70 454 Vette which was not nearly as much fun...Live and learn. I only have one picture of the old Vette and it's not of the best quality but it still jogs my memory.

That a great lookn’ Vette! What driveline? Kind of a funky shifter boot, love the steering wheel and mags.

  9. It’s got a real 365hp 327 and a Muncie 4spd. The interior is real neat. The shift boot is a new replacement that’s already ripped! The mags are those steel wheels clad with what looks like magnesium, I’ve only seen them with aluminum, but these really do look like magnesium.

I was kind of thinking that on the wheels, looks right ;though. A neat trick is to cut the last ripple off a Hurst boot , to fit under the stock retainer plate. If it has a Hurst? GREAT engine! What rear gear? Edit : I agree, neat interior.

  11. Stock rear, don’t know ratio

This is what it looked like when I bought it back in 1971. It only took me 49 years to finish it. I told everyone I would finish it one day. I guess I showed them. I got it 3/4 ,finished then gave up racing and the car set up all these years. I redid everything that I had done before. Now I am racing again. Yeee haaaa its alive its alive. The yellow roll bar seems a little excessive. Sure hope things change for the better so so you can enjoy it.

Yea I had to cut it down when I put the hard top on . I hated that because it worked pretty good for pulling motors.

  19. I love everything about this car...the rim choices, the blue tint.... E7F931A8-A50E-47FC-B766-7CB00CACA6C5.jpeg 06D0A8EF-9B32-4B16-B0A8-E2752EC01CE2.jpeg

I think that car belongs to a member here. Also think I saw it offered for sale sometime in the last year.

I've asked on another thread, but I'll ask here too. I have the VIN # of my old "61" fuel car. Is there a way to find out where it is now?

  25. There is a C1 registry check there, but less than 500 are registered. Might post it on the"Corvette Forum" site.
