Turned 65 today, didn't die in my sleep, still here, collected my first OAS cheque, how does life get any better? My 36 was stored at a friends house while I wired anothers car, waiting for him to pick me up and we'll take a tour, friggin fabulous day.

It seems you have many "greatest days" as life goes on. Getting your license to drive, high school graduation, getting married, doing your military time and getting home in one piece, the birth of your kids and grand kids, and making it to retirement in good health is a big one!! I have been blessed to make it through all this and will be 69 this year. I am now just praying for us all to get this virus stuff behind us and get every thing back to normal. I know it will never be quite the same but it sure will make us all appreciate the simple things more than we ever have before.
Congrats on your retirement, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have since 2013!!

There is also that "one thing" between graduating high school and getting married.
Then again some were early starters!;)

Thanks guys, its not that I'm 65, its that, like some here, I never thought I'd make it this far. All my life, I looked at guys my age as old fuckers, past their prime, and suddenly, here I am. Seems I got married just yesterday, (its been forty long miserable years, I tell the boss), my kids were little yesterday, now they're older, accomplished adults, I have a great grandchild, its like holy fuck did I get here fast, how did all this shit happen in such a short period?
I own two hot rods, grew up poor, wishing someday I could own a hiboy, wished I could afford to buy tools, dreamed of being able to build cars like the guys in magazines I'd read about, these magical talented people who I'd never compare to......
Well, somehow that all happened, guys come to me for advice, to get work done, wire cars, it all happened so fast it passed me by. I never realised I was a chick magnet, the coolest guy on the block, walked with a swagger, breezed through life with absolute authority, and now.....I'm just that old bastard who lives down the road with a cool car or two. Young women no longer appreciate my cool manliness, if I smirk at them I'm just an old pig, some sort of old pervert who could be their grandad, I can only get away with flirting with the old gals, jeez, what happened?
I wouldn't change a thing, being an old fucker is the grandest thing I have experienced, bring it on boys.

Upon being queried by former customers as to how I enjoyed retirement I responded "Well, my big decision of the day is do I make coffee or open a beer? That generally resulted in a "look" by those who didn't really know me and my twisted sense of humor well.

    Congrats.
I couldn't wait until I got to 65, I had the opportunity to get out early, so I retired at 62! I highly recommend it!
I was self employed, its been a year and a half since I retired and I still get people that want me to do "just one more job" for them. Its almost fun to tell them "No, I'm retired now." The only car I'm climbing under these days is my hot rod. Gene
