  2. Don't assume all rods are chopped. doing what others aren't is what get noticed.

yep I noticed that, - rear right quarter doesn’t look original to me, the swages look off, but things like that don’t matter. A lot of these old cars have had a hard life, sometimes as stock cars and now we are resurrecting them.

    here’s my old stock car.........

  9. No man...put a hemi back in that thang! It can be a stock one, doesn't need to be all hopped up, the mounts are already there.

Yeah been thinking of just keeping the patina look for sure. Definitely would need a lot of body work. Has a lot of dings in the body. It’s going to take a lot of hours to get this body back into shape.

Yeah that’s still up in the air right now. Although I do have a flathead and transmission for me to throw in there to get this thing moving along.

Is that the same car, after and before photos, (hopefully not before and after photos), how did you treat the surface rust ? Thanks

I'm pretty sure this coupe started life out as a 4 door. I would chop it and replace the roof with a United Pacific roof to make it right. either way it is a cool project.

So I tried the CLR today. Have to say it worked pretty good. You have to make you soak it good man. Sprayed it a couple times . Did use the 3m rolock bristles after to help clean some of the rust .[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I also used a pressure washer guys to clean up the mess from the CLR I used. That seems to help out also.

Looks great.....now get some Gibbs oil. The Gibbs oil will go on wet, but dries and will help keep it from re-rusting. Probably get a couple 12oz.
