Checking in. I posted this on my build thread, but for those of you who didn't see it, here's a very amateur video of a drive I took a couple of mornings ago. Cruising comfortably (relatively speaking) around 60, got up to 72 on one of the straights, for a few seconds. My new radiator is still finding it's comfort zone as far as coolant level, poots out some early on, but if you stick with it the lens dries off and the image clears up a bit. Hope everybody is well.

Started talking to a crankshaft, it just rang back at me

  17. A guy just gave me some photos of this epic race in 2018 at Buttonwillow Raceway between me in my "Mongrel Banger" and the late Peter Giddings in his 1931 Alfa Romeo "Monza" Sports Race Car. After 20 yrs of competition with Peter (a World Class owner/driver); I finally put it all together to come in ahead! It was a 20 minute back and forth battle!

  19. Turn 2 on the clockwise 13 Turn track configuration!

These two are getting by Peter going into Turn One (I put some Boling Bros. front brakes on)

Sunrise, offramp, cotton corners, grapevine, bus stop, riverside then phil hill, not sure, I think star mazda too.
I used to ride bicycle from star mazda to off ramp to watch Son#1 run Pro7 and Spec Miata.
Then later stood in tower with radio and in race control.

  30. Steve,
full disclosure, I suck as a driver if turning left and or right, that is what my 12 year old son told me one day after passing me on the track. I should have punted him off the track. But, I spent quite a while learning chassis dynamics by racing him. He turned Pro when he turned 15 years old in sprint karts and I found I had the ability to observe the chassis in motion and to make corrections in setup. This translated into sports cars and won rookie of the year in SCCA. That is probably why I recognize the corners of So Cal tracks, and have data files for so many. Believe it or not, Willow Springs track, if done right in a sports car is one up/down shift per lap.

That is why I go straight.
