Just a quick tour during my isolation. I built it 15 yrs ago. Enjoy! Rick.

Your definition of junk in your shop and mine are two different things, my work space is about the same size and I barely have room for the Fairlane. Lol

You’re all welcome. Thank you for the compliments.
This engine is a rebuild, never started.
Checked the distributer timing. All correct.
Gonna double check the plug location.
Engine is backfiring out of the front carb.
    Hasn’t idled yet.
If it was all easy it wouldn’t be fun. Right?

back to basics - distrib correct with #1 at TDC - plug wires correct - vacuum leak - coil - if you did not rebuild motor pull valve covers & check top end

    Distributor is correct at #1.
With the front carb backfire, I have at least good spark, so the coil must be ok.
Going back over the wire placement today.
Along with checking for proper spark in all the holes.

The 48 flathead distributor rotation is counter clockwise. I did install a new rotor and cap on a known working MSD distributor.
Boy I hope I don’t have to remove the heads (not valve covers) on this.
Here’s the first (no fire video) with a small front carb backfire.
    Day 2 in the Garage....

    1941815D-0233-44A9-9760-82601D9E9712.jpeg I’m a dumb ass dyslexic.
Knowing these distributors run counter clockwise I decided to install my plug wires clockwise.
I got frustrated with the MSD and was getting ready to install a stock unit.
    Look what I noticed.

Don't sit in the truck with pliers sticking out of your pocket!

Sounds good! Now all you have to do is put the headers on and drive it!

back to the basics - check and recheck - next time you put a rear in front of camera please let it be rear of your truck as it heads down the road

  29. Really nice home you have there and the history is really cool. That wash house is really something too.

What area of the country is that? I must have missed it.

    Thank you again everyone!
It was fun to share. Better entertainment than CNN.
    One more video coming up.
It’ll be one back on the road terrorizing the neighborhood.
