I just found this thread, loving it! How's the progress?

I'm going to be starting a 58 apache too, hoping to drag my 14 year old daughter out into the shop to help. Momma wants to join too, so that's cool.

Man, it has been one thing after the other. I won’t go into all the boring details. I’ll just say that anything that could go wrong as. I feel for Colby and his mama. She has been hemorrhaging money. It’s at the transmission shop today. It’s acting squirrelly, so they are tearing into it.

I’ll post some pics later. Thanks for checking in. Sorry I haven’t posted any progress pics.

Here are a few final pics.

Today was the first day he started driving it. We had a few issues to work out, a fuel sender leak, no wipers etc. the horn wouldn’t jive with the aftermarket wheel.

He has learned a lot and has signed up for Auto Body at VoTech. He is already thinking about another project. He has the knack and I am afraid he has the disease. 0BF75589-8149-4708-B6DD-9CA3FBA459A7.jpeg F91A0321-CE1C-4E6B-B575-254F22356CC9.jpeg D629339F-0294-4181-9A00-F42843B0BBFE.jpeg F849BE94-7315-4939-8AEF-BA35C2AC0E2D.jpeg F97166D1-A46A-4662-A68A-FFFFCA6840C1.jpeg DC5A2823-89EF-49C9-A839-F978C72453C1.jpeg

Suuuh-weeet set of wheels!! He/y'all did a great job!!

Tell him 6sally6 sez to learn everything he can about automatic transmissions and how to rebuild them..He will make great money....no crawling around under cars (all standing/sitting at a bench)....operating room clean work(if done right)...prolly air conditioned work area (important in Okla. heat)...did I mention it was great money?! Monday-Friday 9 to 5..... Get good at it and go into business for yourself and make more money

Thanks guys. He is pretty excited. He has a job after the virus lifts and he has to work the summer to help pay for the parts he bought. It will make him appreciate it even more. I have watched him grow from a kid that wanted to sleep all day and wanted to leave the shop after 2 hours to a hard working 16 year old that didn't mind putting in 10 hour days. Some days, I would hear the alarm chirp in the house and look out there and he was working by himself after school. He has told me that when I get ready to paint my car hauler, he would come over and sandblast it to help pay me back for all my time....that proves that he will be a productive citizen. Makes me proud.
