Technical Tomorrow is 327

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Truckdoctor Andy, Mar 26, 2020.

  1. Well fans! Tomorrow is my favorite date of the year. Most of you probably know how I feel about the wonderful Small Block Chevrolet. The Small Block is now 65 years old. Happy birthday! Let’s here it for the 327’s and all the other Small Block Chevrolet’s.

Make sure you only post thumbnail pictures. They are small blocks after all.

  11. The last 327 that I was around was Dad’s 1963 Corvette. 340 Horsepower, four speed.

Fact or Fiction? 327s made their first appearance in 1959 in marine and/or industrial applications only, two full years before 1962 model year cars.
(I had several knowledgeable people tell me that when I was a teenager.) o_O

I have a 327 under my workbench on a storage stand. Do I need to sing "Happy Birthday" to it? I'd feel a bit silly singing to it.

"no pics, not real" - pics buried back from days without computers - found a super deal for a fresh built blueprinted 1965 327 set to 365HP specs by one of Nor Cal's best well known machine shops -needed it to replace a tired 350 in a Corvette yellow 1965 Chevy Nova SS - a true SS with black bucket seat interior - had 350 trans that I had rebuilt to hold the high HP in a small car - never got to get a strong posi rearend - from a dead stop the rear of car would turn the car sideways - one ride I miss having 20200326_185743.jpg 20200326_192018.jpg 20200326_193005.jpg

I have a 65 327 an actual corvette motor, that was given to me by my first ex wife as an engagement gift.
I have been hauling that motor around for 40 years, it is the only thing I have held on to from that marriage. It is sitting in my brothers barn right now so no pics.

This was not planned this way. The 56 Sedan Delivery has a 327 in it, the "spare" engine for the Delivery is a 327, I have another 327 rotating assembly (large journal), and at least two more sets of 327 pistons. But, there's also the 265, the 283, the 350, and let's not forget the 454 BBC. And , the D.D.'s have a 305 (334 stroker actually), and the other's a 454. It's a sickness I tell ya', a sickness!!! I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Down here we write our dates more correctly, - day - month - year.
So, because we are 18 hours ahead, - tomorrow is 28/3 - so - 283 my favourite sbc.......:D

Tried to post a pic, but too many on the internet........
