Enloe, I had to chuckle on that one! But he actually taught you something there! Showing you something instead of just telling you! I bet he was a great man!

Both of them are self deprecating as well, one from Cape Breton Island and the other from Newfoundland. The Newfie brags about how he put a puzzle together in less than 2 months and it said 4 to 6 years right on the box. The Cape Bretoner tells him he has frozen his brain drinking that Iceberg Beer.
The only difference between a Cape Bretoner and a Newfie is...about 70 miles. Funny guys.

There would be times when my dad and I would be working with someone. During these times if something needed moved(my job) he would say get it son. If someone would say "that's too heavy" he would reply "Don't worry about the mule just load the wagon" It would be really bad for the mule if a bet was made but i never lost him any money:).

I sure do miss you Dad:)

“Find out what you love doing and you’ll never work a day in your life.”

    Hello,

This quote has been used in many different jobs. If the job is something one likes, then you will have the time of your life and it will seem like not working at all. All jobs have their ups and downs. It is how you deal with both to get along in our society. Obviously, there will be more ups or else you will seek other employment. Jobs come and go, it is how you deal with what is in front of you as to the quality of that particular job.

But, the best thing is retirement. No more anxiety moments for the next work day. No more hassles with people that get shoved in your face or forms to fill out in a different way. These past years, it is get up to do what we like for that day. We love doing whatever we are doing that particular day and we are not working a day in our lives…or what is left of it. From road trips, to walks in the harbor, to enjoying sunsets on the horizon... and hanging out with our granddaughter is pure enjoyment. That is what we love doing.

    Jnaki

It will take a long time to get to this point, but if one finds a job that you can work, with others, by yourself, or remotely from home, do it right. The rest will work itself out for your enjoyment.

In looking back, one blip may have caused us to go a different way in our lives. From hot rod teenagers to who knows what road it would have led us to, during the years of “getting along well with others.” (comment most used by teachers in our early grammar school days… “He gets along well with others”…) It could have gone either way… It comes down to how you cope with what you have chosen.

It’s about slowing down and, as cliche as it sounds, “cherishing the moment whenever you can, remembering to be present, without the anxiety of worrying about the future.”

    Hello,

With our current national crisis, this quote rings true. But our hot rod/drag racing history proves that it can be a fleeting moment or several years of fun, fun, fun. Remembering to document what is going on was not on our minds back then, but years later when our writing/photography skills came to the forefront. It was hard to justify carrying around a small notebook and pen/pencil back then. So, jump up many years and the handy cassette tape recorders did wonders for capturing the moments. The 35mm film cameras were instrumental in helping create some great photographs and the moments of that past history.

Did we worry about the future? At age 16, not so much. At age 20, it was staring us in the face if we messed up somewhere. At age 30, the future presented us with a new way to look at life. So, yes, we just plodded along doing the right things all along the way to the present. We did contribute to society in a good way. Our high school teachers would have been proud to see this time period.
("He is a wonderful teenager, he gets along well with others"...)

    Jnaki

So, we are still cherishing the moment with our times spent being around our granddaughter and son. As well as our extended family, in various locations of So Cal and in the Midwest. For now, we will all cherish those moments, while following the “social distancing” directive, despite not seeing our granddaughter in person. Facetime and video conferencing apps should help in keeping the communication in place.

“We've come a long way from where we began
Oh I'll tell you all about it when I see you again
    When I see you again”

“How could we not talk about family when family's all that we got?
Everything I went through you were standing there by my side
And now you going to be with me for the last ride"

"So let the light guide your way hold every memory
As you go and every road you take will always lead you home”

Henry Ford had a lot of good quotes! Many people don’t know that Henry grew up on a farm, spending a lot of his youth looking at the ass of a horse! He said that was a waste of a mans time. That experience, influenced him to make developments in agriculture, most notably three point draft control, that is used on every tractor built today!
