Technical Material for Ranch Wagon upper control arm splash guards

Don't know the correct term but I'm looking for ideas of what type of material I can use to replace the brittle rubber like material on the upper control arm splash guards on my '54 Ford Ranch Wagon. I thought about using an old inner tube but it isn't thick or stiff enough. I don't think heavy card board would be flexible enough. Looks to be just over an 1/8th of a inch (0.133) Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

 

Ever see an old mud flap from a big rig laying in the road, that might work?

 

Pond liner that is used in in ground ponds should work , it is heavy duty rubber and very flexible.

 

Thought about a mud flap but I think it would be too thick but I'll look at a couple. Thanks.

 

I'll check it out or maybe now that I think about it the shower pan liner material that is being used instead of hot mopping might work.

 

Found some stuff on Amazon. Not quite as thick but its returnable.

Thanks. Just checked Macs and cheaper than trying to make my own. Once I figured out what to call them I found them at Concours as well but Macs is cheaper and 10 buck shipping helps as well.

I found them at Macs and with 10 dollar shipping it was about the same as buying bulk and making them from scratch.

 

I was going to suggest Mc Master-Carr if you couldn’t find them made. The ones for my 56 are attached with staples. Still haven’t put them on. Now that I’m stuck at home I might do it. Personally I don’t buy from Macs anymore since they were bought out by Ecklers....

 

I also try not to buy from Macs in most cases. Concours is my normal go to for the '54 just like Joe's is my go to for my '39 p/u. But my guess is that all the major suppliers get their parts from the same source. That said Macs had them and the price with 10 dollar shipping was more than a little better. I guess in the end I whored myself out by going with Macs but I just spent over 300 bucks with Concours so I guess things even out in the end.

 

I used to buy from Macs. Since Ecklers bought them out it, they have really lost that good company support they used to have.
