It’s on Netflix, I highly recommend it.

  3. Billy Gibbons is one of the nicest most down to earth guys you could ever meet. No ego there. My wife and I were fortunate enough to spend about 30 minutes backstage with him (he’s good friends with my wife’s Dad) when they played in St. Louis in September. We talked virtually the entire time about cars. I did ask him how a band stays together for 50 years? He said “Three words...... separate tour buses”. lol
    He’s a car guy.

I have watched it twice on Netflix now, as a true blue fan of ZZ TOP, this is one great documentary about 3 of the best musicians to ever play kick ass rock and roll and incredible blues. You wont be disappointed! That is me on the left with the Ibanez destroyer. I am sure Billy and Dusty and Frank are in no danger of us replacing them.

Even my wife was impressed by how articulate BFG was.

Back in the early 80s They would come around and play the Cape Cod Coliseum. General addmision, dirt parking lot ,party central . I Watched a big fat guy climb on stage in an attempt to dance with the guys .The trumpet player ,without missing a beat ,with one swing COMPLETELY wraps his horn around this guys head .Boom ,hes down. Two roaddies each grab a foot and drag tuggy off stage. The trumpet player throws is mangled horn off stage and another one comes sailing through the air to him and he goes right back into the song ! Ahh the good ol days .ZZ Top always put on a great show !

How many record albums are there where all the songs are really good? Tres Hombres is one of them.
Fantastic record, one of my top 10.

  15. Saw it maybe 10 days ago. Recommended.
I've seen Billy G from a distance a few times back when I was heavy into barbeque cookoffs. (Imagine a couple hundred fraternity parties packed into one Houston parking lot.) He acted just like a normal guy hanging with the peeps.
I looked down at my shirt a minute ago and noticed a coincidence.........

A few years ago, we came from the Netherlands to south west of the USA for a vacation and my son and I went to SoCal Speedshop. We saw 2 of Billy G cars: the Cadzilla and the hotrod featuring in the Gotsta get paid video being build there. And the T-bird his wife owns. Awesome trip and awesome cars.
Would like to do it again.

    And their music is great.

  20. Good stuff. I kept wanting them to talk about when & how Billy got into Hot Rods though. That's just me thinking Hot Rod 24/7

Saw the ZZ TOP documentary on Netflix last weekend. Excellent as are many of the other musical documentaries found there.

  28. ... Just watched the documentary last night ...
...Went to the Recycler Tour concert back in '91 ... they had junk cars piled on both sides of the stage ...
... Still using the ZZ keychain that I got at that concert ...

  29. I was back stage at hershey for the recycler tour. Talked with Billy and the band. Great down to earth people. Billy is a true honest gear jamming car nut. That little ole band from texas is the real deal, none better. :);)
