This week need to port intake runners (4mm) also need to open ex runners. Valves will be manley pro flo 1.60" in and 1.50" ex. jukka-232.jpg jukka-233.jpg jukka-234.jpg

Off topic: I like banners and old pictures. Those make real atmosphere... I like this 6meter x 2.2meter size salt bed banner too. Another pic: Man in other banner (roadrunner shirt). Is he Jack Brown? Is he still alive?

30-40hours porting + valveseat jobs. Now block is washed and oiled.
Next week I need to put it together with new parts. (Navarro intake, Navarro heads, SU1 cam, stroke kit with ross pistons and H-beam rods, auliz -oilpan, pro flo valves (1.65/1.50), 2 x97, stromberg distributor....

1-2kg iron on floor before I cleaned it.

Yes, I have made few (8-10pc) flathead oilpan. 2pc I have polished. Those are my own engines (21bolt twin spark plug engine and 284cid Italmeccanica engine). One was bolted on McCulloch roadster. I sold that car to Sweden on December.

Today installed cambearings, cam and crank. Now a days those cam bearings are mostly shit. Everytime one or two of those cam bearings are not right dimension. 1st bearing was too tight after installation and cam stuck. I need to use reamer. Now works good.

Curious about the use of studs securing the outer main bearing caps and bolts being used for the inner bearing cap. I've only rebuilt the lower end of a few engines, so I'm asking as a newbie and willing to listen and learn.

hmmm.... "my only trick is no any tricks". When I piece this "59" engine, bolts were like they are now. I do not have any extra stud bolts, but I think its OK to use ARP grease (threads) and use those normal mainbolts with center cup. 80lbs ends, 90lbs center. I don´t know is it good idea to use little higher torque if You have UNC thread like normal mainbolts have...
I have done like that, but there is as many ways to do things as we have engine rebuilders...

My Alum. oilpan (2kg heavier than original steel) is very strong casting, so I do not use any oilpan gaskets. I hope oilpan is also make engine stronger.... never know.

Slowly (too slowly) engine project is foward. I have worked all Saturday with this project, not so much ready... I made new flexplate/flywheel quides, shorted flywheel bolts, because now I use those with flexplate. Tranny will be C4, ford. Also bored one extra hole to oilpan side. Now can install torque converter afterward.

Tomorrow must get shortblock ready. Valves need to cut (-0.1") before installation....

Pistons,Rods & Rings installed. Ross pistons were packed wrong. One piston has different number and...... I worked today 3-4hours with that piston. Now ring grooves are same than other piston.
I do not know who is pay my salary, but sure I send email to H&H Flatheads and Ross pistons. Hard and long Sunday.....

5cylinder valves are installed. I have shorted all Pro Flo Manley valves (- 2,5mm / 0.10"). Not want to adjust lifter screws too deep. Those do not feel so thight if screw has turned lower.... (You understand what I mean).

    Painted. Oilpump pick up welded.
Waterpumps + timing cover bolted on.

Today I lathe crank v-belt pulley and also painted it.
Tomorrow need to mark timing marks (TDC, 20dec, 25dec advance) after installed pulley.
After that I can continue in "upstairs" (heads, intake, carbs, fuel lines....)

    Hello
    Thanks Gentlemen.
I have 2pc of those oilpans here. those are very rough "semi-products". I mean, need to work 20-30hours per oilpan before ready to sell... When I started this oilpan project approx 5-6years ago, I made mould. Same company has made casting for me, they know very much about different materials casting, mixtures.... Last 3pc outlook is not so nice. same mixture light allow, but I hate that big job to fix oilpans ready..... This one I was fixed for me, but decided to install this engine.

Need to find another casting company, then I can make 5-6oilpan set ready for sale. Of course I sell those 2pc too, but I can tell You that those are take so much more time to finish. I need to get more money, when I sell those. I cant sponsor any hot rodder...

A bit off topic perhaps ; but couldn't help to notice the 32 5w in the back ground with quarters below the belt line only, did I see a previous post fabricating those ?
