We are going to miss our deadline on taking this car to Deuce Days but it is almost complete without any road time. I will update from time to time as I complete it. Thanks to everyone that contributed, it has been a very enjoyable time in my life. I enjoy being in the H.A.M.B. family. As my signature line say I am kicking a lot of grass right now, Cheers, John P1000268.1.jpg P1000250.1.JPG P1000251.1.JPG P1000260.1.JPG P1000263.1.jpg P1000265.1.JPG

Time to update since my last post was July of '19. After Deuce Days I pushed the Phaeton project to the back burner and life got in the way. I walked in the shop one day and decided because the car was still new and without any road miles maybe I should do one last indoor show. We had shown a lot of customer cars when we still had our shop open. We had shown at the Boise Roadster Show a few times prior and really enjoyed the whole event, run by a family with a family atmosphere, they really are glad to have you there. I called our very good friends the Lemons of B & N Hot Rods in Maple Ridge, B.C., Canada and told them I was going. Bill said right away that Gordy Gray would bring his 2017 B & N built AMBR contender 32 roadster down for the show. We still have a 20 x 20 display so will show the very black (and beautiful) 32 side by side with our very orange Phaeton. Canadian and U.S. crossed flags in front. The show is March 13-14-15 at the Expo Idaho. We will send photos and any H.A.M.B. guys please say hello. Should be great fun catching up with our friends from the north. Ten days after I arrive home I will have a knee replaced so my spring Hot Rodding will be limited for sure. I will get this car on the road one day...…..Cheers, John

I know I will enjoy Boise, we always have.

Wow, when you moved east you really moved east back to the land of flying houses. Be safe, John

Just make sure you do everything the PT ( physical terrorist) person tells you to do. You will hate him/her but you will thank them before it is over.

Oh yes! This is my second AND LAST knee so I have been through the terrorist once before. But thanks for the heads up. I am reasonably sure that after being on my feet for 3 full days in Boise I will welcome the new knee.

What a world we live in! We had a good trip up to Boise and arrived at noon on Thursday, and along with our Canadian friends we set up our display. Late afternoon the whole venue was basically set up and we told Gordie and Carolina Gray that we were going back to the hotel and would join them for dinner. We got a phone call from Carolina the event had just been cancelled due to the corona virus even though there were no know causes of the virus in Idaho. Turned on the news and it's it's all over. We get up very early the next morning, tear our display down and drive the 580 miles, arriving home Friday night. Oh well kick some more grass and move on.

Did take a few pictures as promised and you can see it would have been a hell of a show.
    Cheers, John

    Wow!
The tub is a stunner, I haven't followed this thread closely but I sure hated to hear of your issues getting to this point and your Boise trip too.
Saw your comment about pinstriping and mention of Mitch, I've known him many years.
Really neat how you repurposed that coin back into the car, curious about what is on the shifter handle, kind of looks similar to what I did on mine, do you have closeup photos?

Thanks for your comments. I know Craig Judd and Mitch Kim have a mutual respect for each other. Both are talented beyond belief as well as being very nice people. What you are seeing on the shifter handle is the brake line-lock attached with zip ties but I had it removed for the show. The knob is nothing more than an 8 ball. My wife does not like the look of the cable coming up the shifter handle but I can't find another place where it is convenient to use. John

Follow up - Boise Roadster Show
I have been in auto racing and the hot rod arena forever and the really good promotors of automotive events are few and far between. I wish to take my hat off to the New Brothers as they are a class act. I knew their dad and he taught them well. Forced to shut down Idaho's largest motorsports event with all the up front event costs already spent, Scott still fount the time to sit down and write us a note. That's a class act anyway you look at it. We feel sorry for them but respect their business practices. I have enclosed the note, you be the judge. Cheers, John WIN_20200319_15_40_43_Pro (2).jpg WIN_20200319_15_41_12_Pro (2).jpg

Wow, Where does the time go and as I get older it seems to go faster. I guess I never got over the disappointment of the Bosie Show and the Phaeton has sat on the hoist ever since. Less than thirty miles on the clock and there it sits. Time for a new owner, I guess. I can't seem to get it down off the hoist. Because I have always had a project going, when a 28 coupster body came along I told my wife of 37 years (she knows me pretty well) that I needed something to beat on. After 20 some years with a Hot Rod shop I still had a lot of extra parts so away we go. Boling Brothers was the next call, and they do outstanding work. A Y-block from a restored Crown Victoria and a 3-on-the-tree (T85) a this very basic hot rod was in the works. At 78 this is my means of enjoying life. No deadlines, no pressure, just enjoying the experience. Cheers, John 28 Roadster dash.JPG 28 Roadster ft.JPG 28 Roadster rear.JPG
Looking for one Auto-Lamp C-430 headlight to match the one I have. Hope someone has one sitting on a shelf somewhere.

It makes me happy to think you are still out there having some fun in the garage. That roadster has a lot of appeal.
Like the man said, "Take it easy, but take it."
    Best wishes, Dan
