...oop's...I stand corrected it isn't a Coupe......Thanks @Sancho...and yes it has got the wider air intake thing going on indeed and modding vintage cars is always a visual design challenge...It does have a quality execution it seems...

...having been staring at all this cool Hotrod stuff for years I have on occasion connect images of the same Hotrod...this is a recent one...I thought this was a match sporting one pile of Louvers and quite finessed in its post race History...but alas it is not but definitely a radically modded Hotrod/Racer...similar though in style and profile...

I'm a pretty Nosey Hamber...:D...and I love the sidelines of the complete Period Hotrod movement and I glean on the images I find in search and try to find relevant info and sources to share...Bringing a Smile and Timeless Inspiration to the Membership and myself is fulfilling to say the least...Thank You for your support and appreciation Dennis.

  9. My friend Tim's project-

    347 Flathead Caddy
    Cad-LaSalle Transmission
With a commercially built coil spring conversion for 40-48 Fords.
-The Coils fit in the crossmember with brackets
-The coils sit on a "swing arm" that bolts in place of the stock spring
-The "swing arms" then attach to the stock Ford wishbone using stock shackles.

Not an independent front suspension, it uses a stock Ford axle

That is a cool build. Lots of really neat vintage pieces. The front suspension is killer! Pretty beefy.

...@Robert J. Palmer...thanks for sharing this unique build...I can't wait to see this on the ground with weight on all the components...

I see your getting the pic thing honed down to a science....that is a pretty darn good post...one more thing I suggest adding is a link to your Thread on it so others can find the more comprehensive story...;)

If I didn't learn something new every day pretty soon I wouldn't know anything. I wish I still knew what I used to know.

It is still happening, so many things have happened since I decided to do this ! I am now much closer with Sonnys brother , Mike , and I have his blessing 110% to do this ! I’ve collected 75% of the parts needed to build it ! I’ve been working close with him regarding a way to get all of Sonnys art that he was able to acquire displayed in one place for people to see ! He had a building erected and is in the planning stages of doing a gallery type display of Sonnys art , car , scooter etc etc ! I am also working with him regarding a potential mobile display of this stuff to take on the road to some of the major shows ! GNRS , LARS , LSRU , Detroit Autorama , etc etc So many things have consumed my time and Mikes since Sonnys passing but this is going to be pushed to the front of our priority list soon !

...The Edison Dye Roadster...Class in Workmanship and Style...127mph in 1951...one of the most Beautiful Hotrods built at Gils Body shop (Gil Ayala I think...?)...

    20200305_194635.jpg

There is another Track Nose Hotrod In the distance in the background that also looks pretty interesting.

Anyone have any idea of whose Racer/Hotrod it might be...just curious...;)

I have no doubt of their knowledge of these racers...incredibly influential in the big picture...I have done a quick search and this is the Spalding Bros I believe...

Looks like an early precursor to the 5 Spoke Mags...I wonder what vehicle sported those unusual rims?

You are correct Joe...Stan Jones Owner of former Bon Binyon/Clint Seaccombe Caddilac powered model A Roadster with door section removed and cowl moved back to fill the void...heres a link below and I try to post these links up for additional reference and I apologize for not always delivering a link or vital info...it was apparently later modded with a 37 Ford Truck grille and full belly pan and appearing in Hotrod Magazine in 1960...I sure would like to have seen that...it realized around 130mph to tie with A K Miller in the class raced I suppose...
