A little pre Thunderbolt...can’t imagine paying that much $$$ for that intake and 48 IDA set up and only getting 30 hp...although the wow factor would be off the charts when the hood was popped

A Thunderbolt Story: Quite a few years ago I went to look at a 1966 Plymouth Hemi Belvedere. It was an all original car with like 29 miles on it. It was like brand new, but had Cragars on it, slicks and just a little other stuff. It still smelled new inside yet. Anyway I asked the seller what the story was on this Hemi car. Well-The previous owner was a Ford guy and had a Thunderbolt and was getting beat all of the time so one of his friends recommend that he buy one of the new Hemi cars coming out in 66. He raced it for quite a few years. He never went back to Ford.

  4. Does anyone have any specs or detail pictures of the Holman & Moody Road race “thunderbolt” that was built? Like what front suspension it ran, interior ect?

The aspect of the short runner IR induction of the 4-2V system that made them worth it was not so much high rpm power gain but extremely quick throttle response. For racing Cobras that little extra advantage of less time to accelerate really paid off as the lap count increased. In period the systems were described as being competitive throttle response wise with fuel injection.

I have driven a particular Cobra with 4-2V, then 4V, and then back to 4-2V. Very different acceleration curves under 6,000 rpm.

I ran at Goodwood one of the 3 Holman Moody replicas after totally rebuilding it, I've got loads of photos of the rebuild, but unfortunately, they are on an old dead laptop, one day I will get around to retrieving them off it. I would assume they were built the same as the original car. Have you enquired with H M to see if they still have the specifications of the original?

Unfortunately, I will not be getting the pictures anytime soon as I need to find a computer geek to retrieve them.
