I saw that car on it's roof leaking what I thought was gasoline and praying that the safety crew would get there. Brutal hit, I hope he's ok.

We all tend to forget that these men are risking their lives every time the strap themselves into the race cars and even though they have state of the art safety equipment they are just seconds away from a huge accident, Lets all pray for Ryan and that the Good Lord allows him to race another day. 14. I'm not ether but even so you could see and hear the concern in his voice during the interview, even though they are all competitors, they are a lot like our community that they do come together when things go wrong. HRP

Viewed the video and I agree it was one hell of a crash. However, I've seen similar and the driver is helped out and waves to the crowd as the medical people escort him to the ambulance to be checked out. Safety in those cars nowadays is incredible so I'm hoping for the best. I noticed that liquid leaking as well and thought the safety crew should have been their a few seconds earlier.

  17. Praying for Ryan and his family. That was a sickening crash.

Jeff Gordon acted a lot like Darrel Waltrip in 2001 when Earnhardt crashed.

why extreme safety equipment is required - same with other racing - people get all excited by wrecks, and helps get more TV time for NASCAR, etc - but, as stated, these guys and gals put their lives and well being out there every time that they strap in - wishing him the very best

Great news, I was expecting the worst after seeing that crash.

In a statement, NASCAR confirmed that Newman is undergoing further treatment and evaluation at the Halifax Medical Center, saying: “He is in serious condition, but doctors have indicated his injuries are not life threatening.”

The HANS Device is a major safety component that helped save Ryan Newman's life. I have no affiliation with the company.

I think I'm going to stop watching NASCAR until they outlaw / penalize bump drafting and the endless blocking. It's a stupid way to "race." Glad you hear his injuries are not life threatening. I've been a fan of all those guys in NASCAR who come up thru the ranks racing on dirt, and he is one of the best of them to come up that way. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Ryan.
