Technical Ford Brass Sill Plate

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Nicholas Coe, Feb 14, 2020.

  1. What car would use this brass plate? Excellent condition with patina. Maybe 1920s? It's not mine. I just happened to see it at an antique store.

1912 and earlier Model T. They reproduce them but this one looks like an original.

You could use it as a key fob for the mens room door at the gas station...

OK, I'll ask, how much are they asking for it?

  13. Sure. $30. Pretty reasonable. If someone here needs it then I'll mail it to them. HAMB love!

  18. Absolutely! This little antique store has all sorts of oddities. I'll post a pic of the store in a bit. Also got some wax cans and a bottle of "new" Turtle wax!

as a general rule, model T's are cheap, but early model T's are not cheap. that part looks to not be worn too badly, may be worth some dough to an early T guy. i would have bought it too

  21. Ok. I wanted to see if one of us needs it first. Here's a pic of the store. She said it came from a hoarder's estate.

  23. Interesting when doing a Google search. It doesn't seem to be in production at all. Mac's did make it at one time but sold only as a pair. How do you tell an Old repro from a pretty nice Gennie? Photos look exactly like yours but without the little scratches. Were it me I'd say "Kool wall hanger" and find a place for it.

  24. It's original I'm sure. Came from an abandoned house in Arkansas. Got several 1950s and 1960s cans from there also. Crazy I know.

Love the Ford logo on that plate. I have used All of those wax products, it's so much easier now.

  26. I don't know if that's a step plate or a sill plate or something else entirely, but it surely is cool. Whatever you wind up attaching it to, be sure to use brass fasteners to maintain the cool factor.:D
