February 11th 2020 The Jimmy engine and Chevy truck bellhousing will be lifted out as a unit. The clutch and brake pedal linkages are bolted to the bellhousing and will have to be removed first. That makes this interesting assembly of rods, springs and pedals the best candidate for the next cleaning and painting sub-task.

Appears to be three components - the pedal assembly bolted to the bellhousing, the master cylinder cage bolted to the frame and the brake rods pivot, also bolted to the frame. Spent the rest of the shop session in deep ponder mode, planning my approach.

 

Great way to spend part of your day tom124. A true gift of life for others in need. My Dad was always a donor, I followed his example and am working on my 22nd gallon of whole red. My Son and Daughter have become donors.

 

I'm a few days late on this one. We went parts pulling. Thought you guys might like these pics. 8 tri-fives with a 63 fury in the mix.

 

After various attempts to fix the frost damage of my 327 SBC in my C10, I have thrown in the towel. No more mr. Nice Guy.
Coming Saturday I will pick up a new GM crate engine together with my son. It will be a new 350, not refurbished.

Cut vent openings in the front backing plates and added some punched metal screen. Got the 31 visor put on the 29 and put a new fuel block on the 30 tudor

 

Last year I won a gift card to Artistic Chrome Plating at the Outriders picnic and decided to bring them my 56 front bumper which had a flaw from the last chrome job.

After I got home I needed to get the fire bottles out of the race car as El Mirage is sneaking up on me. Wife and I raised the body and I got both out without setting either off.

 

Thank God for donors like you that save many lives, I went thru a really bad deal a few years back when I developed a bleeding ulcer that went into a large artery in my stomach and it required 10 units of whole blood, 4 units of plasma and 2 units of platelets before they got the bleeding stopped. I wish I could personally thank all of the donors that gave and saved my life!

 

Had the manifolds plained yesterday and installed it with all new gaskets today.

 

Great idea Tom. There's always such a blood shortage around here. I'm sure it's that way everywhere.

 

I went to the bank and moved a somewhat large amount of money towards a new (to me) daily driver, I just can't keep ahead of the damaging rust these Buffalo,NY winters are doing to my old faithful Silverado. The repairs are becoming to frequent and it's not making sense to keep throwing money into it, so at 160k miles it's time to move on.
This should give a hint to the new ride, 0-60 in 8 (kinda slow), top speed of 139 mph and it has a tow package...grin grin

February 12th 2020 Just damn! Got caught having to roll around under the truck on a weekday. So be it. On a good note, there were no frozen bolts and I had the brake and clutch linkages out in about two hours time. Beer of the day was Adirondack Brewery's Bear Naked All Natural Amber Ale.

I fabricated and installed steel roof bows for the 29 tudor and fabricated a door bottom and patch panel for the 29 door

 

Color sanded and buffed out the right side fender and door on the shit paint job I did on my 1955 tbird.

February 13th 2020 Studied the brake plumbing and did some deep ponder mode thinking as I wiped scattered tools and put them away. Put the pedal assembly in the parts washer for its initial soak. Took time out to wash the clothes I got greasy yesterday.

we live high up so no problem with flooding
so we just stayed inside and DRY

 

modified a hoist for use in backyard for my crewchief...........to be towed by his garden tractor

 

Yesterday was time to replace the battery in the roadster. I am disappointed as it is only 7+ years old!
Gradually been going down even with trickle charge on and that was a pain to put on and take off. The battery is in the trunk in a tight space next to the tank. One thing leads to another and did a tidyup in there as well. Looks nice and clean again.

 

Finished the jams and installed the door, HF $20 heater sure helped the process this time of year. Next up is the seat upholstery and it will be ready for sunny days!

February 14th 2020 When I lifted the lid on the parts washer yesterday, I discovered this. I had the idea of placing a pan of fresh Oileater on the parts washer shelf to take care of small items rather than just dumping them into the main tank of saturated soup. It worked well but it now appears that another thing that Oileater eats is Teflon coated baking pans as there is now a 3/8" layer of beige sludge in this one. Oh well, clean up and try something else, maybe Tupperware.

 

Wonder just how much Teflon we ingest over time by making chocolate chip coolies on one of those baking sheets?!!...........Don.

 

They all have it now. I looked long and hard for a plain old fashioned tin pan and couldn't find it.

 

Getting the hot rodder version of cabin fever, but I'm going to have to wait until spring to do any real work on her. Had a dream that I got the body in place, got the fenders mocked up and I was getting all worried that it was going to sit to low

Prepared the shop for my engine swap. Cleared the lift, reinstalled the gantry and moved some junk out of the way. Gonna pick up the crate engine tomorrow.

Started loading the back of my Tahoe for the swap meet that's this Sunday 2/16/20 in Cape Girardeau, MO. It's shop cleaning at it's best and so far I have items ranging from old golf clubs, mud and snow tires suitable for a hay wagon, SBC chrome parts, an oil bath air cleaner, to a multiple carb synchronizing manometer that still uses mercury. It's like a road side junk store explosion landed in the back of the Tahoe.

I hope I sell enough to at least pay for my swap meet space.

I'll load the "good stuff" tomorrow.

Spent the day building a trailer hitch for my 36 to pull my teardrop copy to bonneville. I'm committed boys, going even if it rains, got my fingers and toes crossed, and waiting till august.
