February 5th 2020 Got some more items off the truck. A frame cross member that Tony fabricated that does not support the transmission but has to be removed to get it out. My friend Gato put the cross member in last time when we replaced the clutch. He also lifted the T5 five speed above his head, by himself, to install it at that time so you can imagine how tight those bolts were.

The mechanical speedo cable, tach, turn signal director and fire extinguisher and support were also removed.

I managed to keep the wiring harness about 75% intact taking it out. I gained new admiration for Tony's wiring Kung Fu as I cussed my way thru the task. Beer of the day was DuClaw Brewing Co's Everything is Taken Hoppy Lager.

  5. FINALLY got the jumper clip installed on my starter. I picked up a new set of 1/4" drive extensions (Craftsman at Ace Hardware) and that did the trick. Took the car for a good run after.

February 6th 2020 Finished with the rear window surround. As with the windshield frame, it was PRE paint prepped and given two coats of Eastwood's self-etching primer followed by four coats of Duplicolor black wheel paint. It can now join the windshield on the shelf until the cab is painted.

Got a buddy with an open pick up to move my sons new 302 GMC engine over to his garage yesterday from mine and my son and I installed it today. It’s moved back 2” from where it was when we ran it in the gas coupe class at Bonneville and El Mirage. Fuel line is in and 75% of the brakes. 2F428907-9F9B-4F28-AF54-E3E1B618E2E4.jpeg B03FA87C-3A2D-4F73-B143-0DB78872E639.jpeg 202F381C-43A6-4FC6-B1AB-CE1B4D546C2A.jpeg 12DBB3E1-428B-4448-836B-8097EEFE9E9A.jpeg

  14. That's how they ended up in the garage, upgraded the house, I have had the cops called on me for the garage stereo being to loud, thankfully that neighbor finally moved and with them at the back of the garage (60ft from the outside door) it should be a little quieter for the neighbors.

Welded a sheet metal insert into the radiator opening of a rusty old 29 Essex grill shell, painted it to resemble the rad, and started practicing the art of painting letters - gonna make it into a wall art sign for my garage. 'Rusty J's Garage'

February 7th 2020 Continued stripping down the cab interior, removing insulation and various doodads. About the only thing left is the crotch cooler cowl vent. Need to study that a bit. The headliner and remaining interior trim will stay but everything else comes out for painting ops. Beer of the day was Adirondack Brewery's Iroquois Pale Ale.

I worked on a bunch of the wife's projects around the house and took her out to eat yesterday, I'll spend today in the garage wrenching.

Finished putting away the Christmas lights before it snows again.

Then some sanding on a couple of stainless steel project parts that will be getting engine turned eventually.

  25. Our geese have started laying eggs. We want them to set and hatch some goslings. lots of varmits love to eat eggs. So Ive set several steel traps. and today caught a huge skunk. I left him in the trap and dispatched him with a 22. And he let go with the scent glands. I wasn't that close. However somehow I absorbed the smell. Took my clothes off outside I think the smell was mostly on my shoes socks and bottom of my jeans. Then I got in the shower. Im gonna leave that Peppy Le Pew in the trap for the buzzards to feast on. The funny part is im conjested and have a stuffy nose and could barely smell it. But my wife and Grandson's certainly did!
