I am in the planning stages for a set of ribbed lake pipes.

I am having trouble finding the tubing. I find a lot of old dead links from around 2003 and a lot of "out of stock". I see Moon has some, but the ribs are pretty faint. It's a last resort option.

Anyone have pics of the original ribbed lake pipes up close?

I thought there was 2.25" ripple pipe .. but I think someone on here had some sort of muffler baffles that they stripped out for that size ???

    Last EDIT >>>

Looks like Superior made a 2.25" ripple pipe. Seen some claim 8' length .. but a HAMB'r here had a 56" length in 2014

I just noticed that they are 1 3/4 od in the Moon ad? I thought that sounded small. I went and measured the pipes on the Astorian and they are 2 inch od....

  6. Our Pep Boys use to have them in like 3 or 4 ft lenth's or better.....the pair on my old blue 3/4 ton Ford truck have been on a few decades.......

Yeah, I was looking at 2".
Kid, I think all of the ones you listed all link back to one mfg. I think. Factory Metal Works may be the source.

I tried it too, it looks like they have one left. Maybe you should call them and see if they are still able to produce them. Is it just me or how long a piece are they selling there? I can't find the length

  12. The only place that shows length is Mooneyes and they say 21"so assuming they all come from the same place that would be my guess.

I just stated that they were on their website. I did not say that they were in stock. Hopefully you can contact them and see if they will have them in stock again or maybe give you a lead on another supplier.

I am afraid it has all dried up. I tried to order it in multiple places. Not sure how hard it would be to build a die set for that. I'll give them a call and see if they can shed some light on it.

    Update##############
I called Factory Metal Work and he says he doesn't manufacture it any more and doesn't know anyone that does.
So back to square one. I wonder if a large pipe threader would work? Not much pressure...

Spiral ribbed tube! Set a lathe to press a roller into the tube (rubber lined mandrel inside?) that advances down the tube.

The pic that KidCampbell posted looks like the tubing someone was selling on here a few years ago. I bought 2 pieces from him, but I don't remember his screenname. It looks OK, with a few dings here and there, but it's galvanized. The Superior label and blue plastic end caps are identical.

I’m thinking maybe a large tubing cutter with dull wheels could be attempted.

  21. Can you call Alex from Gambino Customs ? He made some stainless ripple with a dulled tubing cutter for Kurt or Kirk ?

    Also on Instagram.

Alex used a dull wheel and a big pipe cutter I believe.

  27. I had talked to them early last year and they still had some, I had wanted some of that tubing to make Kick Stand lake pipes for my 39 but ran out of time trying to get the car on the road for TROG and Old North State. AS far as I know they make them in house.

I left him a message. I misdialed the first time. The guy was super confused. He said he didn't even know what ribbed exhaust pipe was. I told him if he ever decided to find out and start making some, I would buy it.
