Been enjoying the wealth of knowledge on here for a while now. This car got me to try being active. Asking for another... It's Texas title says it started life as a 59 Impala 4 door hardtop. Belive to have been done in the 70's. If anyone has any onfo on it will be greatly appreciated Sent from my SM-S327VL using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
try to post it again in https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/what-ever-happened-to.1016572/page-133#post-13436329 a lot of old kustom kemps, maybe someone remembers.
Like the side profile. Looks like the builder got in a bit of a hurry on the front and rear end. A little redesign without the square corners and ends and the mesh up front would look much better. I like the possibilities.
It's as if they got burnt out and rushed the front and back. Sent from my SM-S327VL using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
That looks like a hell of a starting point! Hope you bring it to life & make it your own. Always loved the '59s for the swoopy fins, and '60 had the jet plane side trim.
That's one custom ride! I like the way the "cockpit" is basically enclosed in glass. Really cool side view. Not knockin it, but it probably looks better with the windows up, more of an enclosed look.
I think its begging for some 61 galaxie quarterskins and taillights, ( the small fins would "give it it's wings" and the taillights, after burners.
Digging the side view for sure, but it looks like a mother to try to get into. I'd like to see how it progresses. Good luck.
My Dad had a '59 El Camino. It looks like the builder used the entire wrap around rear window. Between the dog leg for the wind shield and the cut down door that would be a tight fit. The first '59 I've seen without the batwings. The front end is really different without the hood "pods." I like it. The first pic made me think that it had flowers painted on the side like "gypsy rose"!
Make the roof longer to push the rear wraparound glass back to make the door glass longer, would do it for me.
